You said your church or somebody's church supported abortion and had mentally ill men living with women and children in shelters. So far as I can see, the Catholic Church and Catholic charities don't have such policies, even in parts of the country that are very liberal.

To be sure, there are clashes between the Church and secular authorities. I'm not sure authorizing the Catholic Church to become a massive political lobbying outfit would be the answer, especially given how liberal many Catholics are.

Groups like the Salvation Army manage to do a lot of good without getting caught up in today's culture wars. There's controversy now about charities -- like the Clinton Foundation -- that aren't giving enough money to the people they are actually supposed to help. Add political advocacy and campaign contributions to their functions and that means even less going to people who need it.

So let's keep a gag on part of the churches. They probably don't have anything to say.

I don't know where you're getting that from. No churches -- left-wing or right-wing -- are allowed to campaign or give political contributions and retain their tax exempt status. But if that changes, don't be surprised if the results aren't what you expect. Don't be surprised if it's the left-wingers who function most effectively under the new rules.

Maybe there are grounds for rethinking the Johnson Amendment. Clergy shouldn't be punished for taking a stand (though I'm not sure that actually happens), but I wouldn't want to see politics and religion mashed or squeezed much closer together. There's something to be said for maintaining a respectful separation between worship and politics.

True worship is knowing that the Lord is in all and through all. Nothing is outside His realm. Politics trying to exclude God is not only an exercise in futility, but when it is tried you get absolute horrors such as Communist Russia, China and places like Cuba, and many more. Millions and millions of men, women and children have died horribly at the hands of governments that make it their business to keep God out of politics. People have been seriously oppressed. Not only will they be driven to keep God out of politics, but soon everywhere.

Let’s not go down the road of thinking the very creator and maintainer of all things can be banned from politics, or for that matter anything. He will be there, either to bless or damn. Let’s give Him due respect and acknowledgement and humbly hope for His blessings.

The greatness of this country has come about through God. As a country the Christian God, who is God, had made us great. This is a fact, not to be thrown away to the lesser demonic gods of political correctness and inclusiveness. It is time for truth. Christians have a right to have their God given righteous voices to be heard in all realms, including politics. If we aren’t heard, be sure that demonic voices will surely take over, and then will come firey, fearsome judgment, well deserved, at the hand of Almighty God.
