Thankful my son was in Scouts before any of this came about. He really enjoyed it, earning badges and doing projects and camping. They take a nice, healthy outlet for young boys that provides them something to do, provides a learning experience and commaradary outside the classroom and just takes it away from them! Such a shame!
I earned Eagle Scout rank in 1960. Sexual matters were not relevant to being a Scout. If the same standards for moving up the ladder (time in rank before advancing, Morse Code proficiency for First Class, citizenship, swimming, lifesaving, camping, outdoorsmanship and woodcraft, etc.) were still in place, being an Eagle and becoming a man would still really mean something special, which apparently is no longer the case. Sad...
