One look at how skinny people are around me makes me wonder where these food deserts are. Or was that desserts?

Perhaps so many people would not be in poverty if there were not so many people coming out of colleges trying to come up with ways to spend money to fix problems that do not exist?

Prior to the 1960s, poor urban neighborhoods had grocery stores. The reason they are scarce there in the present time is simple: crime. The race riots of the 1960s targeted retail stores. For the most part, they never came back. Hispanic urban neighborhoods do not lack grocery stores, while black urban neighborhoods do. The difference is the level of crime in the latter. The liberals can scream and cry until they go hoarse or run out of tears, but no businessman, even black men, will invest under these circumstances.

As for rural areas, most have access to land, seeds, and garden implements. Rural residents of any race used to know how to preserve meats, fruits, and vegetables. And the home grown food would be as good as, if not better than, highly processed foods, which many believe are a cause of obesity.
