Gov. Greg Abbott has followed through on his threat to cut off state funding for Travis County over its new "sanctuary" policy.
Abbott's office said Wednesday it has canceled criminal justice grants it usually administers to the county, whose sheriff, Sally Hernandez, recently announced her department would reduce its cooperation with federal immigration authorities when they request an inmate be flagged for possible deportation. The policy was set to go into effect Wednesday.
The move appears to target about $1.5 million Travis County was due to receive this year from the criminal justice division of the governor’s office. The division doled out $1.8 million to the county last year and has already paid out roughly $300,000 in 2017.

Actually, she can be fired. Aside from various techniques for forcing resignation that we’re all familiar with, there’s also the minor fact that she’s publicly said she will not enforce the law, which is grounds for her to be fired for cause if the county government so wishes.
The only problem is that it’s not this idiot cop-ette that is being harmed. It’s other agencies, departments, courts, and others

Austin is the San Francisco of Texas...That is true because Austin over the last two decades saw its’ population explode with transplants from Silicon Valley CA who brought their politics with them. Sooner or later, Red States need to ban CA transplants unless they are fully vetted for Political Leanings. They have already infected Oregon, Washington Colorado, parts of Arizona and Nevada and of course Austin.
Don’t need laws.
Get some hungry lawyers to start suing the Sanctuary city/county pushers in civil courts after a sanctuary thug kills or maims a loved one or is drunk/high on drugs and kills or maims a loved one.
Well it’s a start but any shortfall this causes will be fixed by on of the countless left groups. It will take a lot more then this.
Not enough pressure has been brought to bear on the county government to *make* them fire her for non-performance of her duties.
Go check out the legal doctrine of Sovereign Immunity - it’s why such suits usually don’t succeed and is the shield these idiots hide behind. A new law is often required to exempt such behavior from the S-I shield.
