I remember the attacks on Anne Gorsuch back in the early 1980s. The press made her out to be some conservative monster at the time. But she did a great job of cutting the EPA budget and staff. At least now there is a conservative opposition media to fight back when the MSM attacks Republicans and conservative officials.
Comes from good stock then ! :-)
I THOUGHT the name had a familiar ring to it. Great job, Mom, in raising a brilliant son!

From the article:
For her part, Gorsuch felt targeted by the hysteria of environmental groups, unfairly demonized by the press and not fully supported by the president.
When congressional criticism about the EPA began to touch the presidency, Mr. Reagan solved his problem by jettisoning me and my people, people [whose] only crime was loyal service, following orders, she wrote in her 1986 book, Are You Tough Enough? She added, I was not the first to receive his special brand of benevolent neglect, a form of conveniently looking the other way, while his staff continues to do some very dirty work.

That “not fully supported by the president” isn’t going to happen this time!
I would halfway expect President Trump to Tweet that he is sorry Anne Gorsuch is not alive so she could resume her work at the EPA. ;-)
Sounds to me as if it went very well indeed.
Her short, tumultuous tenure was marked by sharp budget cuts, rifts with career EPA employees, a steep decline in cases filed against polluters and a scandal over the mismanagement of the Superfund cleanup program that ultimately led to her resignation in 1983.
Anne Gorsuch like Reagan then and President Trump today was a firm believer that the federal government was too big, too powerful and too eager to issue regulations that restricted businesses.
As a result, she slashed the EPAs budget by nearly a quarter and, according to a Washington Post story at the time, boasted that she had reduced the thickness of the book of clean water regulations from six inches to a half inch!
This from a news source that responded with crickets when the Obama EPA created an environmental disaster in Colorado. And they had been warned not to continue what they were doing. SMH

Congress was run by the ‘rats back then.
She turned over thousands of documents to investigators and only held back 40 or so at the direction of Pres. Reagan.
I knew Anne and her sisters. Great family. If Neil is half as good as his mom we will be just fine
Sounds like it went very well actually, except that she didn't get to finish the job of gutting them.
This story makes me believe that Mr. Schlafley (Phyllis’ son) remarks about Gorsuch don’t so much reflect someone who is not pro-life or is unwilling to overturn Roe V. Wade as unConstitutional, but someone who is keenly aware that anything you say or do can and will be used against you in these circles, and that the abortion question is a mine field.
He has sound underpinnings. He is NOT a David Souter or Anthony Kennedy as far as I , or anybody, can know.
Compare to Trump’s pick for the Department of Education, Sally Yates.
This article opens the door for claiming that the actions of the Parent explicitly direct the actions of the Child. Can anyone say Chelsea?
It may not have gone well because the bureaucracy had too much power.... something DJT will hopefully change.
Sounds like she did a great job! Hope these two Gorsuch’s are cut from the same cloth!
For me, WaPo’s hit piece backfires. Sounds like the mom totally rocked. If the son is anything like the mother, the SCOTUS pick is indeed a home run!
