Trump firing of acting AG fuels Senate Dems’ opposition to Sessions nomination

Senate Democrats doubled down on their opposition to the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions as attorney general, highlighting the need for independence in the office by pointing to President Trump’s Monday night dismissal of the acting attorney general.

Praising the actions of acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates, who Monday night defiantly announced her refusal to defend in court the president’s executive order banning refugees and travelers from some Muslim countries, Democrats questioned whether Mr. Sessions could be counted on to act independently of the president when warranted. Within hours of Ms. Yates’ announcement, Mr. Trump fired her, referring to her actions as a betrayal of the Justice Department.

“What we saw last night demonstrates what is at stake with this nomination,” said Sen. Patrick Leahy, Vermont Democrat, speaking about Ms. Yates’ actions on Tuesday during a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting.

Remember that this leftist tactic by the MSM fueled the vote FOR Trump. The common man gets it. Please folks, keep this in mind. We can’t hear their individual voices in this racket. But we’re here. And still resolute.

Simply put ,there no longer exists a reasonable social consensus in this country. The Democratic Party has become the vanguard of one world/no borders globalism with little real regard for border security, immigration laws, traditional American culture or heritage. They have values vastly different than the people that elected Trump.

I’m sure they don’t want Sessions as AG.
It is becoming apparent Trump is going to turn over rocks...

Exactly that they don’t need fuel. Their power lust is never ending. If they want to stick Trump with an obstructionist AG, they’re not going to want to give him the AG he wants.

Acting Attorney General had the option of resigning, and in fact, should have been ordered to offer resignation upon the assumption of the Presidency by Donald Trump. EVERY US Attorney needs to present a Letter of Resignation, to be accepted or not accepted, by the current President.

US Attorneys, and the Attorney General, are expected to act on behalf of the Administration legally assuming office.

No DOJ employee is indispensable. There is PLENTY of talent out there to quickly and efficiently replace every one of them.

Dems are in panic knowing that the dirt will come out and it will roll downhill. Unfortunately, there are rinos that are culpable here and defending the Dems.

We all know that the mccriminal and his girlfriend are hiding behind chuck U’s butt.

I couldn’t agree more, the Rats know that as AG Sessions will enforce the rule of law unlike the two previous hacks.

Dear God do I love that man! Donald J. Trump gets it done! When I read what that witch (acting DOJ lead) said in contravention to President Trump’s orders I thought that if he is only half of the man that I think he is then she will be gone by tomorrow (now today). Sure enough another scumbag dog is out in the street! Such a weird feeling to have a President who inspires such love of country. Haven’t felt anything such as this since Ronald Reagan. (In my book, Trump has already surpassed Reagan after Trump’s actions from his first week.)

They just recessed for the day.

Just like most Dems, they hardly work and probably have to attend a "protest" or something.

Indeed, the Senator is correct, last night DID demonstrate what’s at stake here. That is to say, the very Rule of Law itself is at stake.

Yates refused to carry out a lawful executive order - lawful both as to form AND function. There is no legal question whatsoever that the President has the authority to ban immigrants (especially on a temporary basis) from any country he deems appropriate. Her failure to do so - WITHOUT any legal reason, just “I don’t like the policy,” is a clear violation of her oath of office and of legal ethics (i.e. you either represent your client to the best of your abilities, or you resign from the engagement).

Yates SHOULD have been fired, and any objection to that is pure and simple politics, not anything having to do with the laws of this country.

If the Dems want to play games, fine. Because Donald Trump is smarter than all of them and not only can, but WILL outplay them. How about McConnell decides to take the Senate into a recess starting at about 5:00 P.M. EST on Friday, and resume work at 9:00 A.M. EST on Monday morning. That’ll give Trump the ability to make recess appointments for not only Jeff Sessions, but Tillerson, Price and any other cabinet officer being held up by the Dems. Oh, yeah, and also his Supreme Court nominee. Then the Dems will HAVE to allow hearings and votes if they hope to stop them and Trump (which, of course, they won’t).

Please, Dems, continue to be obstructionist, pretty please, with syrup on top!

I just read that the Rats pulled some kind of procedural motion and instead of Sessions’ committee vote being today it will be tomorrow.
