[I]t is very clear that in fundamental theory, socialism and democracy are almostif not quiteone and the same. They both rest at bottom upon the absolute right of the community to determine its own destiny and that of its members. Men as communities are supreme over men as individuals. So yeah; they are democrats. And more than a civil war; it is an undeclared attempt at communistic revolution.
Woodrow Wilson, Sociaism and Democracy, 1887
[T]he first step in the revolution by the working class is to raise the proletariat to the position of ruling class to win the battle of democracy.
The proletariat will use its political supremacy to wrest, by degree, all capital from the bourgeoisie, to centralize all instruments of production in the hands of the State, i.e., of the proletariat organized as the ruling class; and to increase the total productive forces as rapidly as possible.
Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property and on the conditions of bourgeois production; by means of measures, therefore, which appear economically insufficient and untenable, but which, in the course of the movement, outstrip themselves, necessitate further inroads upon the old social order, and are unavoidable as a means of entirely revolutionizing the mode of production.
Communist Manifesto, chapter 2
This rebellion occurring on local, state, and national levels shows to me, in my opinion, just how close we are to attempts at all-out revolution from the leftists/progressives/communists. How blatant, how in-your-face, how disrespectful of law and order. They must feel that they were very close to taking the country lock, stock, and barrel. Now they react as wolves who have just had the juicy steaks ripped from their mouths. Much worse will happen. There will be blood.
