The Boy Scouts of America announced Monday that it will allow transgender children to enroll in scouting programs.
Boy Scouts chief executive Michael Surbaugh said in a video message that the organization will now accept boys based on the gender a parent puts on a child’s scouting application, ending a policy of accepting boys based on the gender listed on a child’s birth certificate.
“We realized that referring to birth certificates as the reference point is no longer sufficient,” Surbaugh said in a video message. “Communities and state laws are now interpreting gender identity differently than society did in the past. And these new laws vary widely from state to state.”
Surbaugh said the new policy goes into effect immediately.
“Our organization’s local councils will help find units that can provide for the best interest of the child,” he said in a written statement.

I remember way back when the Boy Scouts had honor and common sense. Why should they be exposed at a young age to gender confused and homosexual boys and girls? It makes no sense.
Transexuals need to be treated for the mental illness they have; not normalizing something so blatantly abnormal. Get them help!

guess the freaks and preverts have totally taken over the Boy Scouts.
I suspect they know they are doomed and this was just a feeble attempt to remain relevant while grabbing a few more members. Here in NJ many troops are consolidating and selling land; too many Americans have left and the foreigners replacing them don’t trust strangers with their children.
I remember a few kids involved in it when I was younger, then it just faded away. Too bad; at one time it was a great organization with a purpose.
This may be more about trashing our morals than equal opportunities .I stand with the Bible .
As a Cub Scout Den Leader for 5 years, and the extremely proud mother of an Eagle Scout, I join you in your sadness. My step-father and uncle were also Eagle Scouts and one of the strengths of Scouting was the continuity over the years. Scouting was the best thing for my son, it saddens me that by the time my grandson is ready to join, the BSA will not resemble the wonderful program.
