I was always led to believe that the South Side of Chicago was the baddest part of town.
The carnage and bloodshed continues. But the big news - all day long - in Chi town today was...wait for it...Rahm Emmanuel saying Chicago needs to welcome immigrants.
Over 50 years ago I lived in the Lawndale neighborhood. We considered it to be west side but it is south of Madison. 50 years ago anything South of 22nd St. was good neighborhood. So even this place 1400 Avers was bad slum infested and not safe then as now. I am not sure which gang started there perhaps Black P Stone Nation.
