People Are Boycotting Starbucks After CEO Announces Plan To Hire Thousands Of Refugees

Some Starbucks customers are threatening to boycott the coffee giant after its CEO took a stand against President Donald Trump's executive order barring immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the US.

On Sunday, Starbucks announced it planned to hire 10,000 refugees worldwide in the next five years.

"We are living in an unprecedented time, one in which we are witness to the conscience of our country, and the promise of the American Dream, being called into question," CEO Howard Schultz wrote in a letter to Starbucks employees about the plan.

While many customers were immediately supportive of Starbucks' actions on social media, others threatened to boycott after the letter's release.

"Upon hearing about your decision to hire 10000 refugees instead of Americans I will no longer spend any money at Starbucks," one such Facebook user wrote on Starbucks' page.

Forget the hysterical mainstream media — America likes Trump’s agenda, including his immigration pivot
In its hysteria-driven coverage of President Trump’s immigration order, the mainstream media forgot to mention this: most of the country supports it.

A recent Quinnipiac poll indicated that 48 percent of the nation approves of “suspending immigration from terror prone regions, even if it means turning away refugees,” while 42 percent oppose such a measure.

In contrast, Americans did not agree with Obama’s decision to open the door to more Syrian refugees; at the end of 2015, a Quinnipiac poll revealed that 51 percent of the country stood against the move, while only 43 percent supported it.

There is the problem for Democrats — even as they rant and rave over Donald Trump’s assault on the progressive values of the elite establishment, consumer confidence has soared to 12-year highs.

Their coffee tastes like diesel buses smell.

I have one of their double chocolaty fraps each year. But first they made the 'chocolate' become 'choclaty' and now they are even worse. I don't know what they did to totally ruin it. I probably won't ever have one of those ever again.

Their stock was down this morning. Low earnings report.

Macy’s went into bankruptcy. Not a good history of businesses that take on Trump.

Be interesting to see where Starbucks is in a year.

Btw, the cost of a cup of coffee is like 2 cents. Nice markup!

It's as though some major companies do not want my business.

Target announces u-choose-your-bathroom; and I haven't been back.

Ben and Jerry's supports the anti-law-enforcment BLM; I haven't bought their product since.

Now Starbucks doesn't want my money either, and this will be quite simple to respect.

We have choices when we buy coffee, or anything else.

i like their coffee, and some of their pastries... i will refrain from spending my money there for now... i usually go with my son... it’s not an everyday thing, but we do go a few times a month... and with his Venti and my tall, it’s a good 7-8 bucks each visit...

Very misleading article in that “People are boycotting,” as stated in the title, is significantly different than “customers are threatening to boycott,” as stated in the body.

Because these companies believe that once they get rid of Trump their bought-and-paid-for-government will FORCE you to kiss muzzie ass - or else.

I don’t go to Starbucks any more because of the high prices for what you get. I started to buy the refrigerated Starbucks coffee and make my own drinks with sugar free hazelnut syrup and Lactaid milk, for about a quarter of the cost. Now I am torn as to whether I can continue to buy the refrigerated Starbucks since their CEO is against America’s safety. I personally saw on 9/11 all I ever needed to know about Muzzlimes.

I long ago quit using overpriced Starbucks and have redirected any suggestions of meeting at Starbucks to competitors. And if the person is conservative friendly, I tell them why to spread the news.

Howard is a fool for engaging in politics. Businesses should either be patriotic or keep their mouths shut. See Target and Hollyweird for prime examples.
