After a fierce outcry, Homeland Secretary moves to tweak policy
Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly issued a blanket waiver Sunday allowing immigrants holding green cards, or entitled to permanent residence in the U.S., to enter the country, despite President Trumps new executive order.

Big mistake.
WHY the HELL wasn’t this more thought out so that they didn’t have to backtrack?? HELLO STAFF!!!!
bad move...
Hmmm. I’ll wait for the full story before knee-jerk.
Fine, don’t let them leave the US with their Green Card. Surrendered at the border on the way out.
No big deal. Green card holders from these countries will still get an enhanced secondary inspection at a port of entry. This just removes the political hot potato.
Was this guy a Trump appointment?
Was this guy acting on his own?
I highly doubt Trump went back on this.
I agree.
It's a learning curve ...
Also a red flag that we have permanent residents from terrorist countries without previous extreme vetting. What better way to setup.
We’re playing with house money now. Trump is running ICE. No need to give the Dims a hill to die on. The front line agents support Trump. They will be enforcing his enhanced vetting.
They did not backtrack. In the executive order, they mentioned allowing people in on a case by case basis. WHICH THEY DID. 107 or so people were in transit when the order went through and once the green card holders were verified they were released other than a dozen or so. This is what Preibus stated this morning.
The media is having a gigantic burning their hair screaming at the top of their lungs moment about 107 people out of 350,000 people that come to this country on a daily basis.
They are out of their collective minds.
Why do we still have the unconstitutional Department of Homeland Security?
Yeah I agree it is a bad move was only like a hundred people and all this is going to do his tell the left just like they did with every other Republican that if they scream and cry loud enough we will back down.
Reports are there was a divide..trump overruled..now it appears the story was true with dhs getting their way. Likely bannon and trump on one side ..reince on the other side
Who else is fed up to here with both Republicans and Democrats alike? Here is the bottom line. PresiPresident Trump is doing NOTHING wrong, illegal, unconstitutional, or immoral. The law is on our side...
8 USC § 1182(f) Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.
I think current Green-Card holders should be allowed back in.
But, if they’re already here now and return to their home, even for a visit - no return.
The administration should’ve thought of this earlier because now it looks like they are caving.
Don’t believe Kelly would do anything like this without President Trump OK.
The article says a blanket waiver not case by case basis so yeah they backed down.
