Trump's targeting of sanctuary cities sparks debate

President Trump on Saturday signed one executive order and two memoranda -- to lengthen the ban on administration officials working as lobbyists and two related to national security, particularly strengthening efforts to defeat the Islamic State terror group.

The order on the lobbying ban extends the existing one from two years to five years and puts in place a lifetime ban on ex-officials lobbying for foreign countries.

Trump vowed on the campaign trail to make such changes and others, to voters’ chants of “drain the swamp.”

One memorandum attempts to strengthen the country’s National Security Council and Homeland Security Council. The second memorandum instructs the U.S. military’s Joint Chiefs of staff to come up with a plan in 30 days to defeat ISIS.

“Lots of additional safety,” Trump said in signing the actions at his desk. “We’ve been talking about doing this for a long time, many years.”

I think he wants to set out his agenda. Then it's up to Congress to do what they have to do.

The USSC nomination will be the big thing next week.

And I'm sure Schumer is pondering......"If we approved of this nomination as a Federal Judge, how can we now say...no way? He has a dilemma on his hands. He'll play the game and then get it over with...cuz there is no other way out.

No lobbying for 5 years is not new...but most were confined to one year.

What is going to become very obvious to everyone, especially those fighting Trump, is that what he said on the campaign trail was not off the cuff ad libs, but well planned and based upon current law.

"The order on the lobbying ban extends the existing one from two years to five years and puts in place a lifetime ban on ex-officials lobbying for foreign countries. "

He ought to pressure congress to pass a law. They are some of the biggest violators. How many of our ex-speakers of the house went to work directly for Saudi Arabia?

Executive orders can be easily cancelled by the next president.

Isis is just the current face of a revival of the Islam. It is like a tornado, which is only the point at which unequal weather systems meet. Do away with one and another will instantly appear until the weather systems equalize. The storm, like Isis is only a temporary focus of events far larger. It isn’t Isis that needs to be defeated. It is the entire “weather system” of Islam. We will have no peace until the practitioners are dead or so defeated they are induced to give up their warrior-cast “religion.”

Since the seventh century Islam has murdered an estimated 1.5 billon people.

I think this is a prelude to going to congress.

That's what most of these executive orders appear to be.....with the exception of the immigration rules.

Congress won’t pass it. This is one where he’s fighting Ds and Rs.

He’s costing them millions each.
