With secession threats looming, the state of California is reportedly studying ways to suspend financial transfers to Washington after the Trump administration threatened to withhold federal money from sanctuary cities.

With California counties among the Top 10 who stand to lose tax-payer funding for providing sanctuary to illegal immigrants...

KPIX5 reports that officials are looking for money that flows through Sacramento to the federal government that could be used to offset the potential loss of billions of dollars’ worth of federal funds if President Trump makes good on his threat to punish cities and states that don’t cooperate with federal agents’ requests to turn over undocumented immigrants, a senior government source in Sacramento said.

The federal funds pay for a variety of state and local programs from law enforcement to homeless shelters.

As long as illegal aliens vote in California’s elections and San Francisco and LA stay Democrat it is overwhelmingly blue! Get your facts straight.

Cut off Colorado River water to California. Make the buggers thirsty but good.”

Here in Washington state we sell California hydroelectricity. Wish that could be cut off but seems unlikely with our socialist government.

Arizona could cut off power to So Cal from the Palo Verde nuclear station. LA will plunge into darkness.

Frankly, that makes sense.

We have rogue leadership here in California.

They are not abiding by their oaths of office.

The Justice Department should step in and prosecute these folks, declare them unfit to hold office if they cannot abide by their oaths of office, or the job descriptions they are held to remain faithful to.

I admit it may not be righteous. But in their minds it is: they want “state’s rights”. This is an admission on their part that being ruled by a far off Big Government is unjust.

BS. By being in the union, they've agreed to uphold federal laws, which apply equally to all the states. They're proposing a tax revolt, merely because some in that state have decided they don't want to uphold and abide by certain federal laws - mainly those having to do with harboring illegal aliens.

If they don't like those particular federal laws, then why haven't they attempted to get them changed through the legal process every state (including them) has agreed to? They have representatives in a duly convened Congress at the federal level. That's where they're supposed to push for change - as they agreed to, when they entered the federal union.

Essentially, they're saying, "We're not going to allow enforcement of federal immigration laws in our state, and if you withhold federal funds to compel our compliance, we'll just stop sending money to Washington." That's breaking two federal laws in one fell swoop.

Of course, they can file articles of secession, and try to break their political bonds with the United States. Until they've completed that process, they're still subject to the laws of the United States, and the federal government has every right to seek their compliance using every tool within their legal and constitutional jurisdiction.

Don't lose sight of what these numbskulls are proposing. It's not some noble rebellion against an overreaching, tyrannical government. It's not about resisting overly high taxation. It's about defying the current President and federal immigration law - nothing more.

If past behavior is any clue, they’d simply put it on the ballot again.

That’s what the Leftists do out here until they win.

They put things on the ballot, two, three, four times until it passes.

It becomes pointless to vote against stuff, because they never accept the vote.]

When Conservatives do win, and it does happen, the Left goes to court and won’t honor the vote.

It’s as corrupt as it can be.

If California seized a penny, simply file federal embezzlement charges. They can get arrested and go to trial and somehow try to make the claim that the money belongs to California. After all, they've hired a total top dog ex attorney general to fight the president.

Wonder if the judge will be able to suppress the laughter.

Precisely. Like Obama, these bastards think they are above the law.

Why not?
Omugabe was allowed to get away with it for 8 years!

It's up to the new DOJ to deal with it.

I don’t necessarily disagree with anything you’ve said.

And don’t worry, I’m under no illusions of who these people are nor their motivations.

Obviously there’ll be no secession, nor will they ever stop paying taxes.

All I’m saying is, it’s an opportunity. Utilize this for OUR political movement.

Agree with them on withholding taxes to the fedgov.

See what happens!
