So, BC has gone over to the dark side?
Too bad; I have some fond memories of a trip there in the early 80s.
Basically it is four provinces:
* Vancouver (city), a few of the inner suburbs and (especially) Vancouver Island: The DARK side. These areas are HARDCORE socialist, think San Francisco on steroids. They are radical environmentalist and have the most left-wing MP’s in Parliament (especially Elizabeth May, who is basically Canada’s George Galloway).
* Other suburbs of Vancouver: Swing areas that tend to lean conservative and support free enterprise but reject social conservatism.
* Interior: Most areas tend to be populist-conservative, basically friendly for Trump type politics. There are a few liberal pockets, but for the most part it is more like Alberta.
* North Coast and far north: Very sparsely populated, kinda behaving like Alaska. Often voting for left-wing parties but educable if their interests are met (they aren’t hardcore environmentalists).
