Yes Senor Fox that’s why all your people are coming to the USA. If you had said “Mexico First” when you were in charge you still might be in charge.
Fox is trying his hardest to keep from being a lamp pole decoration in the future.
Mediocre? Do you know why Mexicans refry beans? Because they can’t do anything right the first time!
And she dresses him funny.
Government regulations and ridiculous unions....
A lot of it is not really the kids fault. When I was a kid we all fixed our own cars, but the dang things were fixable. They are so complex today that just the investment in the necessary tools costs more than the vehicle they are meant to fix. If you could strip all government mandates out of a car the things would cost $4k new and could be fixed by grease monkeys.
“There has been a Resurgence in large vehicles with low-to-moderate mileage and I think that that is due primarily to disposable income and the need for Interstate travel and the vehicles that can handle very long distance driving.”

More so the inflation adjusted price of gasoline. In 1959 a gallon of regular was selling for about 29 cents in Northern NJ. The 2017 inflation adjusted price of that gasoline today is $2.43 but it can be bought for about $2.20 per gallon in parts of NJ (11% less than it cost in 1959)
And they are trying to Trump into saying something in response that the media will use to cause violent protests.
This guy is doing Trump’s work of making Mexico look absolutely ridiculous.
Saying Trump is Hitler might appeal to some leftist fringe Americans, but insulting American cars is sacrilegious.
Fox had better lay off the tequila before he opens his boca.
Boy that’s a fact. I tried to buy a US car new in the late 70’s and the stupid thing broke right on the car lot before I could buy it. I bought a Camry instead. (I’m a die hard Ford fan now).
“Detroit did turn out some crap in the 70s.
They learned better.”
Well, that went way past the ‘70s. We had a 1992 Mercury Sable wagon that literally began falling apart at 60,000 miles. IMO, American cars became truly competitive in quality/reliability with the likes of Toyota and Honda around 2010.
Somebody needs to shove a burrito grande in Fox’s big mouth. The boy has become over-obnoxious.
True during the 80’s. Somewhere between the 70’s and the 80’s Japanese started putting out better quality cards and trucks.
A natural development because we funded their industrialization while ours eroded and we starting giveing whole industries away and doing away with the job.
At the same time our car makers had to really struggle to keep up quality and pay the Unions run-amok in wages and benefits.
The adage: you can be quality, fast, or cheap. Pick any two. We picked just 1. Cheap.
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
I drive a 1995 Honda Odyssey.
Detroit never wanted to make vehicles that last.
Their heart still isn’t in that.
They are counting states with mandatory government employee union membership. They will vote dem forever. The trade unions, that actually have to compete and work with business, is a different story.
“Yeah, I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place ... driving a Lincoln MKZ and looking to replace it with same later this year -but- the Cadillac XTS has caught my eye. Oy. “
Yes, they look nice, but a nicely optioned XTS starts at around $56K. Yikes! I think I’d go for a Genesis G80 3.8 Ultimate Package for $50K(and you can likely get a few thousand off of that).
Many of the best quality vehicles by anyone’s standards are built in the USA, but very few are made by the American Big Three.
You are going to love the new Shelby GT500.
I think there is some truth to Fox’s charge. There are a number of factors that led to the problems of the American auto industry, but poor quality is certainly one of them. Our family has had overwhelmingly better luck with foreign made cars than American. If I was buying a new car again, I wouldn’t even consider American made, I am sorry to say.
“Detroit did turn out some crap in the 70s.
They learned better.”
Can you say Chrysler “K” cars? Lee Iacocca admitted they “sold us some real $hit” when he ran Chrysler!
