Fearing a loss of millions of dollars for defying immigration authorities, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez on Thursday ordered county jails to comply with federal immigration detention requests effectively gutting the countys position as a sanctuary for immigrants in the country illegally.
Gimenez cited an executive order signed Wednesday by President Donald Trump that threatened to cut federal grants for any counties or cities that dont cooperate fully with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Since 2013, Miami-Dade has refused to indefinitely detain inmates who are in the country illegally and wanted by ICE not based on principle, but because the federal government doesnt fully reimburse the county for the expense.

Excellent list here
Imagine that, federal law is going to be enforced against criminal aliens and criminal mayors. When a city defies federal law on immigration, someone needs to visit the slammer for a few years. Piss on a few of these mayors and city officials and these criminal acts will end.

Bump!
Folks should have paid better attention to Trumps stern facial expression on inauguration day. That was no act. It's brand new day.
Victory and vengeance.
My county is not a sanctuary county but stopped calling ICE because they refused to come and pick up illegal aliens.
Dade Co. will probably get some extra consideration from the Trump administration for playing ball. Carrots and sticks.
Absolutely.”
Why should anyone be rewarded that has been breaking federal law for years? The only reward should maybe be no long jail sentence. Most of these lawless pimps need to pay a price, at least a fine.
That’s a great list! Lots of winning!!
Carrot. Think carrot. Good for the hold overs.
STILL not tired of winning....but it is getting exhausting.
Amazingly, this guy was on local Miami media today saying Trump’s immigration vetting was a good idea.
And IIRC, he endorsed Hitlery.
First domino to fall.
See, Gramps? The first city to de-sanctuary WINS.
.
Ben Garrison does an excellent Trump caricature.
I am going to guess that’s about to change - though Trump may have to fire some more ICE personnel first.
In Austin we will be the first to de-sanctuary.
