Trump threatens Mexico's biggest cash source
CNN ^

Posted on 01/26/2017 12:16:33 PM PST by TigerClaws

Mexico's biggest cash cow is under threat from President Donald Trump.

The country's largest source of cash comes from Mexicans living in the United States. That is now under the microscope after Trump issued an executive order Wednesday to start building a wall on the border.

During his campaign, Trump said multiple times that Mexico will pay for the wall. He even threatened to halt or tax cash transfers -- known as remittances -- from the U.S. to Mexico if the country refused to pay for it. Powered by SmartAsset.com SmartAsset.com

"They will reimburse us for the cost of the wall. That will happen, whether it's a tax or a payment -- probably less likely that it's a payment, but it will happen," Trump said on January 11.

That may be too much winning!

The MSM will have sob stories ready — Jose’s wife in Pathetico, Mexico who will starve this week because of Trump.

2% we’d start getting lots of money in quickly.

We need to have the wall built before we take steps that could collapse their economy. Otherwise, it’ll be mass migration we can’t stop. Build the wall first.
That’s grabbing them by the balls.

Then squeeze.

The ones from other countries don’t really exploit Mexico, Mexico gladly gives them a 21 day visa to travel through to the U.S. border, and the cartels make money taking them through. Everything is win win for Mexico and lose lose for U.S.

You don’t want to create too high an incentive for them to drive the cash over or the cartels setting up another network.

2% is low enough they’ll pay it without noticing much.

2 or 3% is the question.

Priority for deportation:

1. Gangs.
2. Petty criminals.
3. Anyone who is on public benefits.
4. Anyone who voted in the election.
5. Anyone working and not paying taxes.
6. Anchor babies and their mamas.
7. Everyone else.

Trump should station a “Quick Response” group of U.S. Marines somewhere down there close to the border, just in case....

They exploit the border thru Mexico, and surely their governments know exactly what’s going on

In fact, charge both countries in the headcount. The country of origin and the entry via Mexico

Spread the cost, Baybee!! Gets the Wall built sooner, better, and funds Border Patrol, DEA, and court and penitentiary costs

Hey, hey, Make Em Pay!!

Building a wall will help Mexico.

Right now, even more so than the past few decades, Mexico is a narco infested, corrupt nation state. In large measure those who fled Mexico have done so to escape this corrupt and violent state.

A wall, along with repatriating the illegals just might force Mexico to finally deal with their corruption. At some point they must deal with it or those fleeing to the US will only increase as things become even more desperate there. Same with countries like El Salvador.

Just what does it say about a nation that the greatest biggest cash source is money sent back by expatriates? That is the definition of a failed, corrupt state.

A border wall just might help save Mexico rather than simply allowing Mexico to export many of their most industrious citizens out of their own country.

50% Lady. Same as you get taken off the top in Vegas. Western Union or whoever takes 50%, the Mexican government takes 12-15% and ...voila!...No more money to the Mex’s and the wall is built! They’ll go home then.

A bank was caught laundering $800 million or so. Nobody went to jail. They paid a big fine (couple hundred million).

The cartels own the banking system and our politicians.

They are a cleptocracy.

OMG they are! I bought 2 ferry tickets to Cozumel and the lady shorted my change. I knew it instantly and said something and she gave me the missing pesos but never acknowledged that it was a mistake nor made an expression like, "Oops!" Rather, she seemed kind of annoyed for being denied free money.

Raise your hand if you think there is a chance of some sort of armed conflict with Mexico. I said a chance, supported by riots and political insurrection here.

ALSO eliminating the right to claim EITC for dependents not living in the USA or having a valid SSI#

There are millions that have work permits from mexico and other countries that claim dependents living back in their Turd World Ship Holes we are sending Tax “Refunds” to.
_____________

Agreed. I'd like to ask the powers that be why removing ALL benefits from illegals is never mentioned? This should be the FIRST thing they do.

I have heard plenty of talk about cutting/reforming Social Security payments to citizens as well, but never a peep about removing them from usurpers.
