To: Logical me

Where in the Constitution does the fedrral govt have the power to supervede local authorities? If Emmanuel or the Governor were to ask for help that would be one thing. But at best it could be the responsibility of Illinois state authorites, not the POTUS. No federal laws are involved hrre.

Well, let me get out my trusty Constitution... er.. well, it says RIGHT here, Section 1, Article 8:

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes...

To borrow Money

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and ...

Wait a second, looking thru these, there seem to be 18 things the Federal government is given permission to do, and this is not one of them.

The answer is Hell No. Trump should be urged to ACT according to Art 1 Sect 8. Period. Getting rid of a good portion of the federales, while at the same time extending the non-enumerated powers to state responsibilities is folly.

Trump has the authority to nationalize ANY states Guard units in time of emergency.

What statute was used back in the ‘20s to justify sending Elliot Ness in to head up the FBI going after the Chicago gangs ???
Seems something like that would work
