Is CNN a credible news source anymore?

I'm a former CNN correspondent, and I could answer this question in much greater detail than you'd ever want to read, but I'll give you the short answer. CNN under Ted Turner (no journalist he, but he understood what he wanted CNN to be and what it needed to be) was a place where, when you first walked in the door, you were told "there are no stars here, only news." And the staff believed that. For me, after wandering in the wilderness of local TV news for years, it was a great feeling to join a group of folks who (by and large) only really wanted to do the f**ing news.

Not sure if this is a rational explanation but it seems to hang together (except the comment about Don Lemon (puke))

Even anchors who are smart and capable (Don Lemon comes to mind) are today allowed (encouraged?) to speak their minds freely during news broadcasts, often with embarrassing results.

I think he’s saying Lemon could be a good news reader as long as he didn’t stray and expose his actual IQ.

Every excuse rather than their blatant lies and ideology. That’s always on display when liberals critique the media. The failures aren’t because they live in the Twilight Zone. It’s always something else.

If I were to watch CNN today (unlikely), I would doubtless soon find myself yelling at the TV: “Stop telling me what you think, and start telling me what you KNOW!”

This is almost EXACTLY what I was saying back before I just gave up and dumped TV in 1997. It made me a much happier person.

Often they would close a story by summarizing the facts they just gave me and it would not match the facts, though it would match their liberal agenda. And it wasn’t just CNN, obviously.

Haven't been for a long time!!! Without airport and medical offices as captive clients they would cease to exist without a sugar daddy, similar to Carlos Slim making a multi-million dollar investment in the NYSlimes.

Remember the “strike on the Iraqi Scud missiles” which wasn’t Scud missiles? I’m trying to remember if Colin Powell was part of that, too.

CNN is probably the worst, but this article covers the situation for almost all of mainstream media.

The best description of our current politics that I’ve heard (I forget who came up with this) is that Trump can either be taken “literally” or “seriously”.

If you take Trump “literally”, he says some crazy stuff doesn’t he? He’s vague, he’s grandiose, he’s sometimes imprecise, he’s not always 100% accurate. The news media (like CNN) latch on to this stuff, they take him very literally and then they portray him as a scary guy, or as a clown.

If you take Trump “seriously”, he says what everyone is thinking. People don’t trust the media, they don’t trust government economic statistics, they are tired of radical Islamic terrorism, they don’t want illegal immigrants, they hate Obamacare, they wants jobs and economic growth. The voters hear Trump and understand Trump. He has the message they are looking for, and they take him seriously.

The media needs to learn to take the President of the United States SERIOUSLY. Everyone else does.

The Brits accurately refer to the BBC talking heads as “news readers”, demonstrating that they are not journalists, just people verbalizing a news story. In the U.S., everyone in front of a camera seems to want to be on the editorial board.

“”Is CNN a credible news source anymore?””

Of course, it is. We had Wolf Blitzer telling us on Friday as it was happening, that the obozo’s were walking to the airplane (at Andrews), and they were going to be walking up the stairs and then they would board the airplane.

Now what would I have done without that tidbit of information?

The best they can do is do exactly what they’re doing, and then have the audience convert each and every point into its precise opposite. That way, the public will have a good chance of receiving a greater amount of true facts.
