Beijing has deployed advanced Dongfeng-41 ICBMs in Heilongjiang Province, which borders Russia, according to reports based on images, possibly leaked to coincide with Donald Trump’s inauguration as US president. “Pictures of China's Dongfeng-41 ballistic missile were exposed on Chinese mainland websites,” the Global Times said citing reports in “some Hong Kong and Taiwan media.” Russian news agencies identified one of them as the Apple Daily, a Hong Kong-based tabloid-style resource. “It was revealed that the pictures were taken in Heilongjiang Province. Military analysts believe that this is perhaps the second Dongfeng-41 strategic missile brigade and it should be deployed in northeastern China,” the report in the Chinese daily adds. The Global Times works under the auspices of the People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party, though the former tends to be more controversial.

BAck when Nixon and Kissinger opened relations again with China it was to present a somewhat united front against an expansionist Russia.

We might well see the reverse geopolitical move to an understanding with Russia against China’s new aggressive moves.

In geopolitics, a tripartite arrangement can provide some stablility. It would be even stronger if we could add India to the mix.

If they are truly intercontinental why do you need to move them close to anything?

Communiste China is in fact also NATIONALIST CHINA.

The only “religious” socialists, cultural marxists, historical determinists and leftist ideologues remaining are in Western Europe and North America.

?

The whole point to ICBMs is that you *don’t* have to deploy them near a country’s border.

I could debate either side of this for hours. Wish we were back in school again. :-)

Possible line up:

US
Turkey (after Erdogan is gone)
India
Russia
Australia
Japan
South Korea

In other words, they would be surrounded. This is probably an error.

Trump needs to visit Moscow with the US hockey team.

it would be like Nixon in Beijing with the ping pong team.

The closer to the target Russia and a launch over Alaska to the United States gives you more throw weight. With more throw weight you can carry more warheads and decoy devices. It is all about how much weight you can lift and deliver to target.

It has a 9000 mile range. So they drove it a few hundred miles closer to the border? LOL
Heilongjiang province is near North Korea, Vladivostok, etc.

Hard to imagine worse analysis than this article has.

Could it be that they moved them close to Russia so that if we were to strike them it would be risky? How would Russia tolerate counterforce nuke strikes on their border? In short, Russia as a human shield.
