It did seem higher than I expected, but I have not priced tractors before, so no real idea. $13,000 for a diesel did not sound too crazy, though. And I like the idea of readily available replacement parts.
They are already doing just that check out Elio Motors. I have one on pre-order.
I think I want one. Do you think a lawn mower attachment would fit in the middle or rear. . .What about a snow blade? and a snap on cab?
“never buy a tractor without.....”
I like the advice, but finding all that for under $10k is almost impossible these days.
“With that light front end you can do a neck of a wheelie I bet. Used to do then with muy dads 4020.”
Got to be one of the best tractors ever made. There’s still thousands of those out working. I can see the lights Of Moline from here so they are extra thick in this are.
Looks a lot like a 1948 Allis Chalmers model G.
(BTW, my son is a physicist, we've come a long way)
Is export only? Because i bet its lacking all the usual safety and EPA crap. Does stand ump turn the machine off? Does use ethanol? does it have a CARB compliant engine? is the PTO properly guarded?
...and a hammer.
I there a road blade for this thing?
...and a roll of duct tape.
Hot diggity dog! Awesome American ingenuity; paradigm shift, err, jolt!
I can see some drag racing or other regearing being done, too.
My thoughts exactly, especially for the low HP rating. a person can buy used 30-40 HP tractors with various attachments from the mid teen thousands to low 20’s.
Alice Chalmers made one like this as shown in the same picture as did John Deer. They fell by the wayside due to lack of demand. This “new” tractor is rather large but light weight with flimsy looking front end. The Yanmar rice paddy tractors and the newer compacts by John Deer, Kubota, Ford-New Holland are more practical, have better weight distribution and will fit standard equipment. A used unit with 1000-1500 hours will bring $15000 with a cab and loader. Better by far. I want a farmer or construction guy on the design phase, not a Cuban computer geek.
except for the engine parts that is...
They had originally intended to make them in Cuba, but Cuba said no.
It’s a voodoo tractor, “named for the Santeria god of iron, tools and weapons.”
I still use my 1950 Ford 8n with brush hog, blade, bucket and plow to do virtually everything I need to do. A running one can still be found for less than 3K and parts for them are readily available. So what is new?
There was for the AC. Don’t know about this thing. They’d be foolish to not make one.
“4020, Got to be one of the best tractors ever made.”
Indeed. My ex got mine.
We use one of these at the range where I work to grade the gravel parking areas and trails. Works very well.
