He probably knows it would be futile. She is unhinged and he knows a separation of only about 2 feet isn’t going to stop her from attacking him. And he didn’t want to be in the middle of it all. It must suck to be him.

Part of me thinks that was a BS story spun so as the airline wouldn’t kick them off.

I think he did suggest that to the male FA, but the attendant said that the captain had already done something — “made the call” or something. I assumed the captain had already called law enforcement by that time.
