The Trump administration may no longer enforce a rule requiring individual Americans to carry health insurance or pay a penalty if they do not, a senior White House official said on Sunday

Speaking on ABC's "This Week" program, Kellyanne Conway, counselor to the president, said President Donald Trump "may stop enforcing the individual mandate."

Separately, on CBS' "Face the Nation" show, she reiterated Republican promises that no one would lose their health insurance under Obamacare while a replacement is being developed.

That’s going to put about a thousand dollars back in the pocket of all the scofflaws.... but what about the ones who kept paying the outrageous obamafare?

A statute not pursuant to the Constitution is not law.

Funny thing: it took an amendment to tax income but not to levy a tax on not complying with a regulation ... which should otherwise be called a “fine” and merits receiving this due process thingie....

Americans will no longer considered criminals by their government if they don’t want health insurance.

Insurance companies made record profits last year.

They will not be pleased.

He had better not enforce it.

Otherwise he’d be not fulfilling his promises and he’s maintaining Obama’s big brother policies.

This is great!

This was the least of the problems with the law - it not only forced you to buy insurance, but what kind of insurance you had to buy, literally outlawing many types of low cost insurance, pushing younger people out of the insurance pool as it became too expensive...not to mention the massive regulations on doctors / healthcare providers causing a reduction in quality and quantity of healthcare providers.

“insurance companies” does not necessarily = health insurance.

The enrollment period ends Jan 31. Policies last for a year.

You got that right!

Compulsion to contract is illegal. It voids the contract.

ACA is a farce.

Kelly’s PATRIOTIC INAUGURAL outfit suited her personality. She relishes symbolism - just like her Super Woman costume.

A very big first step. Why should anyone be forced to buy health insurance. I spit on the Obamas and their minions. We need tax credits for healthcare expenses.

The mandate throws our constitution in the trash heap.

Only a fool even goes near a doctor; they shorten lives by decades.

I too am one of those scofflaws... it was going to cost me $250 a month. I don’t have that kind of money to fork over. Decided to let it ride and pay the fine but deep in my heart hoping Trump would win and I wouldn’t have to pay it!

Yes, the law mandated that everyone buy a Cadilac, when a Chevy would do. By my last count, there are 72 mandated coverages in the ACA. Young and healthy people, or those who would simply prefer to self-insure the low risk of large health-related expenses, do not have the option of buying a catastrophic illness/injury policy.

The Individaul Mandate is my number one objection to Obamacare. It’s unconstitutional. Justice Roberts notwithstanding.

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is economically unsustainable and was never designed to be affordable, deliver care, or refine the best overall health care system in the world.

The ACA was designed to put an unelected Federal bureaucracy in total control of the entire health care service in the United States Of America, for the purpose of controlling the individual citizens/residents of the United States Of America.

It was NEVER meant to be economically feasible or sustainable.

Repeal and Return to a Freedom of Choice health care system is likely to be the best option, and some components may have to look like Repeal and Replace through several steps to a final Repeal and Return.

Significant damage has been done to both health care personnel, health care institutions, health care manufacturers and health care insurers, requiring reconstruction of our excellent legacy system.

Exemptions from individual mandate fees and penalties would be the financial incentive (the stick) to get cooperation from those would be tyrants while rescuing the little taxpayers and small businesses.

God bless President Donald Trump for taking out the mandate that enslaves and deprives and overcharges for health care, the government does good when it protect citizens from evil people who do evil, like so many politicians who forgot who they are and the sufferings of those whom they represent. The forgotten working people are being remembered by President Trump as he works to remove the choke-hold of unaffordable government health-care. The government was not meant to set up or run any thing but was created to punish the evildoers who robbed and killed and destroyed citizens. What program does government run well? None at all, the military alone does well because of the command structure it employs. Government should only punish evildoers and let the states and communities therein establish businesses and schools and health facilities as the government destroys by over regulation all things it touches, as bureaucrats enrich themselves before others. A mess indeed. God bless President Trump and guide and protect him from the enemies of America, foreign and domestic.
