Rules to live by

It is time, once again, to peek at “George Washington’s Rules of Civility & Decent Behaviour.” Public discourse has become increasingly uncivil and we could all take a page or two from his book and apply it to our own conduct.

“Be not immodest in urging your friends to discover a secret.” One of the most frightening words you can hear from a friend is, “Can I tell you a secret about myself?” These words will automatically cause you to stop breathing as you contemplate the possibility that your friend is about to reveal that they have been doing something horrible.
