Almost two-thirds of federal employees voted for Hillary Clinton during the presidential election, according to a new survey.

The poll also found that six of 10 felt that the election itself gave Americans a negative impression of federal service.

So it may come as no surprise that some federal employees are considering leaving their employment when President-elect Donald Trump assumes office.

“More than one in four federal workers, or 28 percent, will definitely or possibly consider leaving their jobs after Jan. 20 when Trump is sworn into office and becomes leader of the executive branch,” according to the survey conducted by the Government Business Council and Government Executive, which both track the trends of the field.

Half said that Mr. Trump’s business experience would “hinder his management of the federal government” while almost two thirds believe that his business relationships pose a conflict of interest. Both points are also popular narratives within the Democratic Party as well.

Sure. Just like all the celebs that promised to leave. Maybe a few who are eligible for early retirement will do that, but working age dimocrats quitting over principle and looking for real jobs ? Unlikely.

bureaucrats leaving jobs where they are paid more than the private sector is wishful thinking. political appointees, of course, is a different matter so maybe that skewed the survey.

"....gave Americans a negative impression of federal service.”"

Anyone who has ever dealt with the Federal bureaucracy already HAS "..a negative impression of federal service."

The outcome of the election was (at least partially) a RESULT (not a cause) of said "...negative impression."

I am sure there are people who currently do not have a job that would jump at the chance. They can get the F out.

Let’s say on 1/3 actually follow through. Trump promised to reduce the size of government, and having a voluntary 10% reduction is a big point in his favor.

Yes, they can, and they must be or it sets a dangerous precedent for anyone else.
When the state bureaucracy is full of vicious, literally crazy people and you can’t get rid of them, the capriciousness that is already a problem (prosecuting political dissidents with audits, applying every rule they can to wipe out someone for no real reason, putting people in jail for violating foreign laws) becomes worse.

They will get some federal buyout and big pension allowing them to live on the beach for life or you can bet they won’t quit. That’s usually the game.

Would be nice, but it’s BS. Probably no more than 5%.

28%? Well, that’s a start. At least we wouldn’t have to pay them unemployment if they voluntarily leave.

Tack on the other 20% promised reduction and *I’LL* be sh!tting skittles
