South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, tapped by President-elect Donald Trump to be UN ambassador, questioned Wednesday at her Senate confirmation hearing whether the US's funding of the world body is worth it. And she diverged sharply from many of the foreign policy views Trump has expressed, telling senators that she expected the President-elect's views to evolve under the counsel of his national security team.
Haley rapped the UN for its treatment of Israel and indicated that she thinks the US should reconsider its contribution of 22% of the annual budget. "Are we getting what we pay for?" she asked. Haley was questioned if she would shy away from cutting funding to certain UN agencies that take stands that displease the US.

This is an interesting turn of events. Where is the popcorn?
I like to trust Trumps judgement, however, I do NOT trust this woman!!
Wondering if anyone has seen this story from a source of real news? (thanks for posting OP, I have just decided to ban CNN for the new year)
Over the past six decades, the contributions, or assessments, provided by poor or small U.N. member states have steadily ratcheted downward. Currently, the minimum assessment is 0.001 percent of the regular budget. The 39 countries paying the minimum assessment will pay only $25,852 in gross contributions in 2012, based on the 20122013 biennial U.N. regular budget of $5.152 billion.[2]

By contrast, the U.S. is assessed 22 percent of the regular budget, which is nearly $567 million in gross contributions for 2012. The U.S. is assessed more than 180 other U.N. member states combined and 22,000 times more than the least assessed countries. Together, the top 15 contributors pay over 81.4 percent of the U.N. regular budget. Moreover, under U.N. rules, the 129 member states that contribute less than 1.3 percent can pass the budget over the objections of the countries paying over 98 percent.[3]
As well you shouldn’t, she is a Democrat in an R jersey like almost all of South Carolina’s elected.
That post wasn’t meant for this thread, and I asked to have it removed.
Wow, somebody else understands the political reality in South Carolina. I would rather have Nikki back instead of having Henry McMaster and Hugh Leatherman in power. Those two epitomize corruption in politics.
Obama just gave the UN $500 million for Global Warming ,will they be clawed back ?
Nikki Haley is a squish and will cave to leftists. Trump needs to dump her ASAP. She was plucked from her position so the Lt. Gov., Henry McMaster, a conservative, can take over the state from Nikki the squish.
HOORAY Nikki Haley
Trump is OKing his nominees to speak out even if it seems to make it look like they don’t agree with him on some issues - some may be to let folks know he has some who would counsel him about not being rash and some to show he isn’t afraid of those who are willing to speak their mind to his power as their boss. In the end, he is the boss and they will not last long if they don’t do as he wishes.
