Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife, former First Lady Barbara Bush, have both been hospitalized, his spokesman said Wednesday. President Bush, 92, was admitted to intensive care at Houston Methodist Hospital to address "an acute respiratory problem stemming from pneumonia. Doctors performed a procedure to protect and clear his airway that required sedation," his spokesman, Jim McGrath, said in a statement.
Barbara Bush also was admitted to the hospital Wednesday morning as a precaution after "experiencing fatigue and coughing," McGrath said in the same statement.

They’ve probably got that nasty virus that’s been going around. I’ve been coughing for weeks.
I hope Trump can visit them because he is the only former president who can’t attend. It would be a nice gesture.
A couple of people in my office have it too.
This strain seems to be a nasty one. Getting it in your 90s is no joke.
Prayers for the health of the former President and First Lady.
I’m sure he has the best care the United States can offer, but it doesn’t hurt to petition the Great Physician as well.
It seemed like yesterday GHWB went skydiving (much to the chagrin of the SS!).

I don't know if now he'll be the only former president to not attend. If both GHWB and his wife are still hospitalized tomorrow I wouldn't be surprised if W. stays close by and misses the inauguration. I know I would were it my parents.
Winston Churchill thought that pneumonia was not a problem. His doctor corrected him on that. Explained to him why it was called “the old man’s friend”.
