“Not a word about “safe minority’ districts. The Dims where hoisted on their own racial quota systems petard in Congressional districts. Did the Pubbies gerrymander? Yes and in large part by partnering up with Dim minority candidates. In order to get enough minorities into a district to guarantee the election of a minority candidate requires some areas to be very homogenous. Oh the racial political irony that you need a broad dispersal of minorities to elect white Democrats.”

I’ve mentioned this exact same thing in several posts here on FR. It’s especially obvious in Georgia, where an alliance between (mostly white, rural) Republicans and Atlanta-area (mostly black) Democrats has resulted in three “safe” districts for blacks in the House of Representatives and about a dozen such districts in the state legislature.

The article mentions this possibility but rejects it, claiming that political attitudes are largely set in young adulthood. I agree with you, though, and have witnessed the same gradual shift to conservative views in both my and mrs riverdawg’s sides of the family.

Despite the title, the article says nothing about John Kerry.

The author is under the misconception that Hillary won a majority of the popular vote.

“Democrats have long grumbled about their disadvantage in the Senate, where the heavily populated blue states of California and New York get the same two senators as do tiny red Wyoming or Idaho.”

Jeez, is there nothing in the Constitution that Democrats like?

I would argue that they are missing a whole lot more in this article. Its jobs and values when it comes down to it.

The results show Democrats’ unintentional self-gerrymandering is arguably a bigger handicap than the GOP’s intentional gerrymandering.

Like crap like this...

Look at the 5th district of FL or some of the other jacked up Dem districts.
