Trumps inauguration is getting a dose of soul, with Soul Man singer Sam Moore joining the lineup of performers just days after Jennifer Holliday pulled out.
Moore, one half of the R&B duo Sam & Dave, announced Tuesday hell be appearing at the Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration in Washington on the eve of the Jan. 20 inauguration.
"As an American, I am honored to perform for President-elect Donald Trump," Moore said in a statement. "I was a participant in the civil rights movement and have seen many positive changes and advancement in my 81 years of living in this wonderful country, but I know we must all join hands and work together with our new president, the Grammy Hall of Famer and Hold On, Im Comin singer said.
I honestly believe that if we can accomplish this, the best is yet to come. We all as Americans need to unite behind our new president and give him a chance. He needs everyones support to make America greater, stronger and an even better country, 81-year-old Moore said. The addition of Moore whos performed multiple times for President Obama at the White House comes just days after Broadway veteran Holliday suddenly cancelled an already-announced performance at the inaugural festivities, saying she desired to stand with the LGBT community.
See what he brings to the table, Moore said of Trump, during a chat with ITK last month.
It is what it is whether you agree or not, hes there.
He didnt put himself [in the White House], Moore exclaimed, the American people did.
When ITK inquired at the time whether hed be willing to perform at the inauguration, Moore replied with a wide grin, If they asked me to, I would yeah!

Nice!
I’m from Chicago... Brings back great memories of The Blues Brothers! :)
Great...
HOPE he doesn’t care about the BULLIES, LIARS, and WHINERS
I'd prefer to see the Oath taken, a speech given followed by a short parade and then a wave on the way back to work.
Trump is on a mission from God. ;)
I couldn’t agree with you more ... however, I’m pleased to read that Sam Moore is on board, especially since I didn’t know he was still alive.
Ok for you sour patch, but I’m gonna be partying my ass off Friday, and good music is always appreciated.
Damn, I want to be there!
Indeed. It a celebration. WE WON. I am planting my ass in front of the TV. Opening up a bottle of champagne and going to savor every second
Philly was the capital of Doo Wop, New York was the birthplace of the Broadway Pop song, but the Blues, Jazz, Rock ‘N Roll, and R&B were all created in the American heartland.
Southern girls with little gold crosses were screaming over Elvis on the “Louisiana Hayride” before anyone in Greenwich Village or Haight Ashbury ever heard of Rock ‘N Roll.
Biggest mistake Conservatives ever made was handing Rock ‘N Roll culture over to the flag burning hippies on a silver platter, because they didn’t like the long hair and the drugs.
Rock ‘N Roll was a by product of post war prosperity, and an expression of American Triumphalism. That’s why the Commie Folkies hated it.
But we gave it away, and despite the best efforts of Ronnie Van Zandt, Angus Young, and David Lee Roth, it hasn’t been easy trying to get the Lefties to give it back.
What a reasonable and courageous man.
I love Sam Moore!
NOW WE HAVE A PARTY!!!
“Play it, Steve (Cropper)”
“...I didnt know he was still alive.”
Dave’s gone though. Died in a car wreck in ‘88.
