How about a 100% reduction in departments that have no Constitutional mandate?

Starting with the EPA then the DOE. Cut the head off the snake and end the youth indoctrination program called “public schools.”

Get back to reading, writing and arithmetic. Not LGBTQ and Islam studies. History should be more than the 60’s civil unrest and the War Between the States.

You are being generous. Of course, if the question was “how many fed employees do anything productive?”, the answer would be around 10%.

Last In, First Out.

That will help purge the recent stuffing of the bureaucracy by 0bama.

If you eliminate baseline budgeting you immediately eliminate 7% annual increase in spending...

Gut the regulatory agencies. They are scum and they have well exceed any conceivable usefulness. Believe me, there will still be way too much regulation and misallocation of resources when Trump is accused of “cutting to the bone”.
Look for predictable resistance from the rinos like McConnell and rino ryan.

We should bookmark this story and keep track of all of the people “cheering.”

Six months from now when the heads are rolling in the streets, we can talk.

Everyone wants the budget to be cut. But no one thinks THEIR job, or their neighbor’s job should be cut, because THEY are not the problem.

THE problem is the debt. And in the next few years—with interest rates—that debt is going to become virtually unpayable.

I am sure somewhere near Fort Meade there is a viralogist trying to come up with a pest that will be triggered when someone gets their first Social Security check and it will wipe out the Boomers before they get a chance to collect.

I am, of course, kidding. But, stuff has to be trimmed. Everyone talks about it. But when it happens, there is going to be hell to pay.

Hey, it's a start and I'll take it.

If nothing else, it will be 20% fewer bureaucrats extending government outreach and sprawl.

By the “anti-immigration wall”, I assume they are referring to the beautiful American Protection Wall or the Keep America Safe Wall. “Anti-immigration wall” is not an accurate description. It has nothing to do with immigration. Sneaking across the border is NOT immigration so much as it is breaking and entering illegally. A bright line of distinction needs to be insisted upon.

let them try to pull that “smaller increase is a cut” horse$hit with Trump.

I'd forgotten that Washington DC's version of a "cut" is simply a reduction in the increased spending. Kudos to you for remembering that and I agree: let's see them try that crap with Trump! LOL!!!

Fire new hires from after the election if their positions are not needed (if legal). For all other federal workers, make it gentle enough that no one employed before the election gets fired except for performance:

Eliminate Education, but put those from the education Department first in line for other federal openings. The same for BATFE.

Slash bloated departments (and freeze salaries in those departments until they make their target cuts in staffing), but make it a rule that losses to attrition are replaced at a ratio something like 1:6 (one new hire for every six who leave) or 1:3 for federal transfers from other (shrinking) federal departments.

If we don’t have “victims” whose sad stories can lead the evening news, this will go over much better, and we can cut much deeper. Getting rid of 20% of federal employees is a good start, and we can get close to that in a four-year term with just attrition, given a near freeze on hiring and a hold on step and level pay increases for unwanted positions.

I don’t want to cut our military (mostly, although perhaps some Pentagon and other non-combat positions, plus pork procurement projects can go). The same is true for FBI and a few other areas. Otherwise, we should look at where government has grown since Bill Clinton came into office and consider whether those added burdens on taxpayers are worth keeping.
