As a side note, the individual who made the recording gave a copy to a local TV station and another to radio station WJR.
WJR refused to air it until it could be substantiated as true. The TV station, on the other hand, ran it on air and that immediately caused a firestorm of controversy over Mayor Fouts.
Since the tape was already aired, WJR's Frank Beckmann followed up and aired it on one of his morning programs......
Here is why I am questioning the authenticity of this tape. First, the guy who allegedly recorded it has remained anonymous for fear of reprisal from the Fouts administration.
Second, this was not a one on one conversation between Fouts and the recorder because if it was, then Fouts already knows who it is.
Third, since it wasn't one on one, there were others in attendance who also heard the alleged comments and if that is true, why haven' they come forward to back up both the taped conversations and the individual who recorded them?
Last but not least, the last recorded conversations oddly enough were obtained from the Motor City Muckraker website and not given to the major news outlets. If you check out their website, you'll find they are a left wing site whose goal is to foment controversy and hatred in Detroit rather than unity..........
