They have a couple of ‘salvage’ stores in East Tennessee that feature plenty of name-brand products at nice discounts. Pepperidge farm products always 99 cents as one example.

Save A Lot in my area used to be a supermarket chain called ‘U Save’, Save A Lot is an older store, but it is good. We love Public, but mostly we go to Winn Dixie, which used to be a ‘Sweetbay’. In a hurry, we like Aldi, newer stores...

Publix is the 800lb gorilla in Florida. You can see Publix in the middle of nowhere, but you’ll see a sign in the field ‘Homes coming soon’.

My home town was Wallingford. I see they now have a Shop Rite and a Big Y over the border in Meriden. Shaw's, Wal-Mart and Aldi. We had an IGA, a First National/Big Buy/Finast/Edwards, Everybody's Market, Barker's food section, Caplan's (downtown), East Side Market, Food Fair (where an episode of the original Supermarket Sweep was filmed on location). Waldbaum's over the North Haven border (if you look closely at the original Stepford Wives movie, they shop at the Stepford Waldbaum's.
Smaller, more accessible stores. The old store buildings became drug stores and office supply stores.

Wegman’s is the best.
However, their meat (beef) is pretty expensive.
NOBODY can beat their club pack boneless chicken breast prices though.

Around Dallas we don't really have any of these (We get Aldi's ads but I can't tell you where any are). Kroger is good for most stuff, esp sales if you check the ads. Decent quality on fresh produce/meats Tom Thumb is cheaper but I only get canned/bulk baking stuff there. Usually prefer Central Market/HEB for fresh produce/meats. More expensive, but much better quality.
(Still cannot imagine what kind of dish uses cactus, which they offer)
Have you never heard of any kind of prickly pear food? Dessert/drink? Or if you've seen "nopales" or "nopalitos" as a side/appetizer, probably at a Mexican or TexMex place, those are the cactus pads. Then some places are starting to sell cactus syrup as another agave/honey substitute. I've never tried that though.
