This other thread gives me some hope for California.

Peter Thiel considering bid for California governor (Pro-Trump, multi-billions, for CA independence)

Unless you work for the state that may have been a risky move.

Of course sometimes people have no choice but to go where they find work.

Once again, the proposition that a governmental unit can “tax the people back into prosperity” is going to be tested. And the answer will always be the same - it shall fail. The taxes get so onerous there is widespread evasion and avoidance, and in doing so, the very engines that drive prosperity are stalled out, some never to restart.

No matter how many times or how many ways it is tried, compulsion and coercion to pay exorbitant tax rates always ends up the same way - declaration of bankruptcy, whether individually or as a much larger entity.

And with President-Elect Trump cutting off all Federal assistance to communities that insist on retaining their status of “sanctuary cities”, the worst may yet be coming.

Some “social” programs are simply not worth it.

Oh dear! Where in CA did you move?

We escaped in 2015 to East Tennessee—best thing we ever did.

Where it said ‘Jerry Brown’s draft tax plan’, I thought it said Jerry Brown’s ‘daft’ tax plan.

Made more sense the second way.

I just moved to California

What prompted you to swim against the tide like that?

Run for the hills, is my advice. I escaped Mexifornia 2 years ago and settled in the beautiful Appalachians, surrounded by conservatives.

I have found paradise.

In just the 2 years since i left, CA has gone downhill rapidly - more 2A violations, taxes, protecting illegals. Now they are burdening all hardworking citizens with the expense of the bloated pensions for government ‘workers’!

If you leave, the fascists in CA will still hound you, possibly.

I am livid!&

In California my husband and I had a small business. Moved here and sent a letter to the county there that we’ve moved, in 2014.

They have been hounding me ever since for business taxes - for the time I didn’t even live there! The first overpaid civil servant - on CalPERS of course - didn’t even find it ridiculous. The 2nd understood it but said I had to fill out more forms AND send in complete tax returns for 2014 & 2015. 2014 will show the business address in CA so why do they need it? 2015 will show the address here, so that I can see. But why do they want ALL the forms? Just the 1040 and schedule C will show the business was not in Tulare county. The rest is none of their business!

I hate that state. They don’t even let you leave! Hounding people for taxes that don’t even live there, giving illegals every free handout there is, and they don’t get why white people not on welfare are leaving in droves.

I asked to talk to a manager, we’ll see if they even call back. Jerks!
