But consider this:

Godwin's law is premised on the fact that in any continued on line discussion, eventually a comparison to Hitler or Nazi's will be made. Bonhoeffer's name is in the headline of this thread, thus I would say that Godwin's law is not applicable here, as the discussion started on the basis of a mention and did not devolve into the applicability of the law.

The initial mention triggers the law. Can’t evade Godwin’s Law by starting off with an accusation of Nazism, implied or explicit; the reference in the initial statement fulfills the conditions of the law.

They went Godwin 8 words into the headline, and once you’re there, you’re there.
