Food stamps are typically valid for 12 months. Taking into consideration that it takes a month or two to turn them off when you expire or die....yeah, there could be a lot of these food stamps around and being used by dead folks. I don’t see this being fixed unless you flipped everyone over to some credit-card type operation.
Course, if you go to this extreme....why not issue identification cards to everyone and require their usage when using the food stamps or credit-card. Then, by the way, you could require the same IDs to be used for voting.
Yup.
People do have to renew yearly, which should eliminate fraud.
But these aren’t users. These are retailers ripping off the system.
Redeemed by dead people
This IS exactly the program for 'food benefits' in Calif. The money is automatically put on a credit type EBT card that can be used at any store that takes them (which is most if not all that sell food). They also issue an ID card that matches the name on the EBT card. It was all put into place here so that people wouldn't feel 'stigmatized' having to use, and be seen using food stamps. But no, they don't require any ID here to vote.

It isn’t the people who use the Food Stamps, it’s the Retailers who redeem them that are dead.
