I have no doubt that massive fraud is taking place in the food stamp program. But it seems like this is a misleading headline. The people who are dead in this situation are the people who own the businesses accepting the food stamps. This could be an indicator that some type of fraud is taking place, but there are many legitimate businesses which have dead people showing as principles. I am not sure how long it took after my grandfather died before he was formally removed as a principle in our family construction business. It was not an indicator that any type of malfeasance was taking place.
That was my take too.
It read to me like retailers had the phoney ideas. Not SNAP card users.
So this would seem to be a income tax avoidance issue rather than a SNAP card halder fraud?
