I wish the Washington Post were as eager to publish all the information about incidents like Brown and even Martin, so that the public could understand. That’s what their job is after all.

In this instance I think the officers over-reacted.

It would have been simple to talk to the guy for a minute and determine what was going on.

I do not recommend anyone get out of the car unless directed to do so. Keep your hands on the top of the steering wheel and comply with questioning and directives.

A few simple questions and answers could have resolve this situation in under five minutes.

Law abiding Blacks should be treated with respect. This guy is doing what Blacks should do, and I don’t like seeing him rousted like this.

If I did, I would think I deserved the same treatment. I don’t.

By the time they went up to his car, they should have known who owned the vehicle. Simply have him produce ID and let him go.

I agree. But as I said in my other post, cops are burned out. If we fix THAT, we won’t have so many overreacting.

It has been my (admittedly limited) experience that, once a police officer thinks that you are guilty of something, there is nothing you can say or do to change his or her mind. Even when a judge has vindicated you, you will still be guilty in the mind of the arresting officer.
