A Senate Republican is blasting President-elect Donald Trump's criticism of Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), praising the lawmaker for his leadership in the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) on Saturday seized on Trump's characterization of Lewis as "All talk, talk, talk - no action," pointing out that his "talk" made a significant contribution in the civil rights movement.

"John Lewis and his 'talk' have changed the world," Sasse tweeted.

Thank you. These four are going to be a pain in the ass during Trump’s first term.

Sasse has a 94% Conservative voting record according to Conservative Review.

That said, he’s mis-judging Trump and Lewis. Lewis participated in the Civil Rights movement along side MLK and that is laudable. But, Trump’s right regarding Lewis’s leadership and record regarding his own district. He’s the poster boy for Term Limits which Trump and Cruz are working on together by the way.

Sasse needs to be destroyed and is in the same low class list of losers as McCain and Linda Graham.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) had two major omissions in his failed attempt to criticize Trump. Maybe Lewis positively impacted civil rights with his action in the 1960s. But what has Lewis done since beside rest in the glory of his accomplishments a half century ago? The black civil rights movement has NOT gone forward to implement MLKs dream that we judge not by the color of our skin, but by the content of our character.

Thanks to people like Lewis, we are farther away from MLKs dream. He just has to look at the crime, divorce, abortion rate, unmarried mothers, and unemployment statistics in his own district to see his failure to carry forth MLK's dream.

Does Lewis favor quotas where you select potential employees not on the content of their character, but instead on the color of their skin? Does he favor ignoring crime statistics by calling it profiling, focusing instead on color of skin?

When is Lewis going to focus on encouraging families to stay together, working with pastors in his district to better all through improved education, better role models like Ben Carson, Clarence Thomas?

People like Sasse and Lewis need to take a time out and reflect on their failures and what they can do to better the world.

I heard that too. I also heard that Sasse euthanizes kittens and puppies while randomly cutting the power to nursing homes.

“Conservative insiders were fooled by Sasse in the spring of 2014.”

And will be the next time too.

Rural twang in speeches + country music at rallies + mention Jesus a few times = conservative voters turn off brain.

Had Martin Luther King not been assassinated, he would have ended up a minor albeit important figure in American history. There would have been no streets named after him in EVERY major city in the country or holiday in his honor.

Instead he got turned into a martyr and those in proximity of him assumed a holiness that should never have been merited. Jesse Jackson even wore his shirt stained with King's blood for DAYS after the shooting. Like it was a modern-day Shroud of Turin.

But it's forbidden to say such things aloud. King's disciples are deemed untouchable and beyond mortal accountability.

There may be no true peace among the races of America until all of King's retinue are six feet under. Maybe then their lingering bitterness will die with them.

Yes, in his day. But today the world has changed and Lewis is stuck in the 50’s. Rewind to 1950...have there been any changes? Lots, but Lewis hadn’t noticed.

Yes, too many are quick to forget. Heck, just look here on FR where people keep wanting to rehabilitate Lyn’ Ted. Waste of effort, better to have a Democrat replace them and then follow-up with a real Republican. People need to stop making excuses and forgetting the past.

Sen. Ben Sasse is Nebraska’s attempt to duplicate the RINOness of John McCain.

Beware - Sasse one of the RINOcrats being groomed for a presidential run in 2020.

There’s a kind of Stockholm syndrome at work in RINOs - they get beaten like dogs by liberal politicians and the liberal media, but they can’t help crawling back to liberals, whining pitifully, tails tucked between their legs, hoping for a pat on the head. That’s Sasse. That’s McCain. That’s Graham. That’s a big part of the swamp that needs draining.

John Lewis and his 'talk' have changed the world,

like his claim that sharks still follow the old slave ship trade routes.
