Moonbeam’s gift to California, his senile wet dream of the bullet train will become a nightmare for California.

I foresee some railroad tracks sitting in the middle of the California central valley.... and they are a dead end on both end. And never have trains on the rails, only rust.

If the politicians in Sacramento really wanted to help the citizens they would build more dams and reservoirs.

California doesn't need more water, it needs less libtards. It's much easier to control the water supply than to control population growth. Without the foreign born invasion and libtard transplants the past 40 years, California would still be Reagan country, and the Democrat Party would have gone extinct.

But this is infrastructure. We do it for the jobs and economic stimulus. Right?

Let’s have more of this economic stimulus and infrastructure.

Let’s build an express train along the southern border. OK?

Sounds pretty fun to me. Two-hour bus ride from San Francisco to Merced. An hour to go through security screening and wait for the train. An hour train ride from Merced to Shafter (because no matter how fast is is, it will have to stop at least twice at some politicians’ favored locales.) An hour to disembark and reclaim your luggage. Then a three-hour bus ride from Shafter to downtown L.A. - slowed due to heavy traffic. Total of eight easy hours. And you cynics don’t even bring up that it’s a six-hour drive or a one-hour flight - because you did your part to save the planet! :)

Actually, it is California who should be paying the Federal Government back $15 billion to cover the costs of their illegal alien fetish.

“I’d like to know what was originally budgeted for that the costs were at $6.4 billion for such a short segment.”

People are getting well-paid and well paid-off. The legislature only approved this project last year or the year before, how is it already over-budget?

Have they actually physically done anything yet?

FYI - this stretch of high speed track will be immediately used by existing passenger rail service running from Bakersfield to Sacramento/Oakland with more than 1.5 million annual riders.

don’t flame me. I am not defending the current system, just adding some facts.

I believe all long distance transportation should be 100% privatized - rail, air, and highways. No more gov’t intervention and subsidies. All Interstates should be fully privatized.

If there is potential, let some corporations fund it.

Now, it is becoming another tax albatross around California taxpayers like all of the so called wonderful wind farms paid for in some way by us.

Too much of what I call the NFL concept of getting a city/county to pay for a multi billion $ stadium for fans and the owners while $crewing the local taxpayers.

AMtrac is another hustle.

Heaven knows that millions upon millions of people are simply chomping at the bit to travel to Bakersfield.

yup - the example is freight rail

In the 1970s US freight rail was dying, hobbled by a layers of legacy gov. Deregulation resulted in a boom in US freight rail which now is the most efficient in the world & and has a 50% market share.

Eliminate subsidies and deregulate -

Excellent example! The railroads were being layered to death by the unions and government regulations including not being able to stop operating lines/runs that were not profitable.
