I have a buddy who worked for Walmart at the corporate level.

He said the letting go of the HR people (that’s who walmart is letting go of) is a good thing, and I understand after his explanation.

The HR people are to handle all the red-tape and rigamajunk regulations. We have 2 of our own in our small company, just to navigate our regulations.

Walmart is banking on reduced labor regulations he says. Now, I’m not sure that is true, but it makes sense. For me? I can’t let go of one of my HR people (yet), but maybe Walmart sees something I don’t see.

His other comment is that Walmart has been top-heavy for some time, and cuts in corporate were suggested many times in the past. Resistance to such moves runs strong in a big corporate environment I reckon. Perhaps Trump’s promise of cutting reg’s was the catalyst they needed.

thanks for your explanation.

Not to mention, computers and internet take a huge workload off a company. If you have fewer employees on the floor, you don’t need as many HR people.

People are ordering a lot of merchandise online and having it delivered either to their local store, or to their homes. Computers keep track of inventory, do book keeping, keep logs of addresses, phone numbers, credit/debit card numbers. You just don’t need as many people! The cotton gin did the same thing. The industrial revolution tends to work into the technological revolution and all of them eliminate the need for human beings. Now, Robots are coming out which will further eliminate the need for people services.

On the other hand, doors are opened for human innovation. Can’t find a job? Make one for yourself! Trump is rolling back regulations for that very reason. You don’t have to be an economic ‘gibs me dat” ...ie somebody GIVE me a job...when you are in a position to create jobs..for your self so you can hire others.

Invest in yourself. To heck with buying clothes and accessories, parking spaces and lunches and child care, to work for someone else. Use that money to do something you love, are good at, and can build on. If you’re any good at it, word will get out and your business will grow.

Home cottage industries were squashed right along with other industries. Let’s hope, and if necessary, write to President Trump to get those regulations lifted right along with other regulations.

We are finally in a position to lift ourselves up and as we do, we are lifting up the nation because we ARE the nation!!

BooYa!!
