Walmart is laying off workers because its expansion plans exceeded its business plans.

Nothing but drivel at this website.

Economic collapse? Walmart is laying off, oh no. The paragon of “buy cheap s$%^ from China” is the forewarning of economic collapse? Ever heard of Amazon? Automation? Or just maybe the era of hyper economizing is winding down? Maybe I can afford groceries from Kroger? But wait Boeing too? This idiot puppets to have an even basic understanding of what drives Boeings sales? Of course not a word as to who is hiring.

Boeing has years of backlog. They can’t make the planes fast enough. How are they not selling enough planes.

this is just opinion. the reason why these stores are laying off is they gambled on a Clinton presidency and lost. Walmart has always depended on imports to dominate the shopping economy. with a trump presidency the profit margins on these imports will not be as big and I think you will see a resurgence in non corporate stores across the country that have not been able to compete because of the economics involved with a import economy.

When you have that many employees 1% is a pretty high number.

The press lies for democrats when they’re in office.

When Obama’s gone they’ll write negative stories about the economy and ‘the homeless’ will be back on the front page.

As an aside, I have noticed fashion trends tending toward the loose and non-fitted. This can only be a good thing for online retailers.

“Boeing is not selling enough airplanes.”

This may perhaps be that there is now a question about Boeing selling Iran a flock of commercial airplanes. Trump may have already indicated that that deal isn’t going to go through. Even commercial aircraft can have military applications, hence the government can deny export licenses for them.

In other news the Obama Administration reported that the RMS Titanic is not sinking any further and that the ship is now in ice-free waters.

Capitalism requires creative destruction of businesses that do not meet their customers’ expectations.

In Wal-Mart’s case, they may have over-expanded instead of upgrading their existing stores. That said, the number of employees laid off is miniscule. In many states, Wal-Mart is the largest employer..

My wife, my niece and just about any straight female I know all like to see what they look like in outfits or shoes they buy.
Clothes especially with women can be costly and no way women want IMO to be waiting weeks at a time trying to get an exact fit.
Same with buying jewelry, new types of makeup, and so forth.
Big market in college for renting books at $40 instead of buying a book for $250.

I know of no women wearing tent outfits her in California, but trends tend to start in NY.

I bought most of my electronics from local stores, but gadgets, chargers, cables, blankets, Amazon Fire stick, phone covers, projector, guitars, and other stuff I used the internet.

I also look for the best prices for stuff I need on the internet between sales on the stores.
I had to shop a washer recently, I found it before I left the house. Ended up gong to Home Depot and got something 60% off of the regular price on sale.

My wife looks more for what she wants and though she tries to get things on sale where she can, the coats can be $200, same for some shoes. Blouses $80 or more, dresses are selected after many fittings.

Me, I have my suit stuff, then I run into mu mens store twice a year and get my $59 polo shirts for $13. My $99 shoes for maybe $29. My daily pants $19.

My wife gets good stuff, pays more but she can wear that stuff for years.
I but good stuff, good name brands like Van Heusen, Polo for $29, but not the next level up of expensive designer clothes at all. I’s ruin them on a daily basis between the dogs, my son and things I have to do around the house. :-)

Now if I know my sizes well in a brand and I can find the brand delivered at a great price, I can buy things online also. :-(

Walmart has a lot of poverty stricken people also shopping there, and there is a lot of merchandise stolen by shoppers in all the stores.
I think shoplifting and maybe some over charges in rent for the stores is what is closing them down.

We rarely going to Walmart, we go Target which is like a lot cleaner version of Walmart.

Welcome to the Hobama economic recovery. Most of them probably voted for him twice, buy the media lies and are getting just what they voted for. It will take President TRUMP two to three years to straighten out hobamas mess. Hope their safe spaces are well stocked.

Oh they upgrade lots and lots and lots of stores, just not all at the same time. Update some, build others new, even take over and remodel spaces that were not Walmart stores initally. It’s an endlessly ongoing process and all depends on the local economies around the various locations.

Walmart because of new $15 min wage in many places.

Boeing because of subcontract outsourcing.

Same here. Stay away from women in burqas — you don’t know how many pounds of explosives they’re hiding under that black cloth.
