Until yesterday Cubans who managed to get into the United States were NOT illegal aliens. I’m frankly shocked at some of the posts on this thread.
Obama in a desperate attempt to punish Cuban exiles (who tend to vote Republican if they become Citizens) single handedly ended a policy that has been in effect for over 50 years and ensured that any exile who reaches US soil today will be returned to Cuba to be summarily executed.
Obama and Castro are gleeful. I am shocked at the Freepers who join in their glee.
Hopefully Trump will undo this on day 1.
When instituted the policy made sense. It is a different world today. US policy towards Cuba has changed.
I’m shocked by the reactions too. Of the Latino vote, 29% went to Trump, and we can guess that most of it was from the Cuban community. Florida was one of the key states that helped Trump beat Hillary, and this move by Obama is the most naked display of murderous revenge I have ever seen by a President. Because, as you point out, if they go back, they’ll surely be imprisoned or killed. And it was completely without warning, which was really savage. I hope Trump reverses it immediately.
The ignorance on display in this thread is breath-taking! Not your standard FR fare. For 50+ years what this man did in trying to escape Castro and Cuba was perfectly legal and encouraged. Unilaterally as his last final flashing finger of fate, was to make their escapes illegal. And some ignoramuses don’t seem to even know wth they are talking about here. Unbelievable.
