Malachi Martin from Ireland told a friend an invisible force pushed him to his death How did he manage to tell anybody anything after he was dead?

If I recall, he died after the fall, and from the fall, but not right away.
I actually know of someone (2nd hand) who set himself on fire, and died a little more than a day later, but actually confessed the sin of suicide as he regretted his action after it was too late.

How did he manage to tell anybody anything after he was dead? It took him a couple days to die of the effects of the fall. He hit his head on the corner of a desk on the way down, and succumbed to a cerebral hemorrhage.
He called his friend and reported that his feet had been jerked out from under him as he was standing on a stool reaching for a book of a high shelf.
