Pence to be sworn in by Justice Thomas

Vice president-elect Mike Pence will be sworn into office Jan. 20 by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Reuters reported Thursday.

Thomas, a conservative legal icon, was included in the official program for Trump’s inauguration as shared online by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.

Trump will be sworn in by the Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. Traditionally, the chief justice swears in the president, and an incoming vice president picks someone else to administer his oath of office.

Thomas, 68, is the second black justice to serve on the Supreme Court and is one of its most conservative members.

Trump is expected to nominate another conservative justice to fill the vacancy left by Justice Antonin Scalia, who died nearly a year ago.

Vice President Joe Biden was sworn in by liberal Justice John Paul Stevens in 2009 and liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor in 2013.

Thomas is 68? Way too old. He should be 48, or at most 58.....

[The Chief Justice typically administers the oath of office at the inauguration of the President of the United States. This is a tradition, rather than a constitutional responsibility of the Chief Justice; the Constitution does not require that the oath be administered by anyone in particular, simply that it be taken by the president. Law empowers any federal and state judge, as well as notaries public, to administer oaths and affirmations.]

I was hoping Trump would have chosen just about anybody other that traitor Roberts.

And Trump will be sworn in by John Roberts? The guy who was blackmailed to support Obamacare.

68, way too old? Pffft, that’s nothing. He’s got 20-30 good years ahead!

“Thomas, 68, is the second black justice to serve on the Supreme Court and is one of its most conservative members.”

Isn’t it funny that the Leftists have NEVER gone after this man since they thought they ground him to a pulp during his confirmation? And, Um, aren’t THEY the ones that are supposedly SO ‘color blind?’ *SMIRK*

FU Democrats. Seriously. FU.

But will the MSM cover it? They’ll try to ignore it, or at least avoid showing a black conservative justice.

I have read lots of leftists “go after” him.

Lots of smears that he is not “authentically black”, that he is an “uncle tom”, that he is a house n!gg@r, and such.

No black man is allowed to be a conservative in the “progressive” plantation.

It was announced earlier that Trump would be sworn in by Thomas. Looks like someone spoke out of turn
Glad to see Thomas included in ceremony

Awesome. I only wish Antonin Scalia, God rest his soul, were still around to swear in Trump.

Shouldn’t the liberals be pleased, that the lone black justice on the Supreme Court will have a featured role??

If Hillary Clinton supposedly shows girls growing up that a woman can be president, and is touted as a role model for girls growing up today, shouldn’t the presence of a black Supreme Court justice inspire young black children growing up that they too can aspire to great heights of achievement???

I had not heard that.

After Robert’s Obamacare ruling and his dismal performance at the Obama swearing in, it would be reasoned for him to be passed over, but I wouldn’t say that would definitely take place.

Doesn’t it make you proud how we respect and admire Blacks?

I could not be a Democrat if they paid me a $50k plus salary per year.

I thought he was older than that. To me, that is actually good news.
