HANOI — Secretary of State John F. Kerry returned to Vietnam on Thursday for his fourth and final visit as the top U.S. diplomat, his presence embodying the transformation of the two countries from enemies to partners.
Even as his nominated successor, Rex Tillerson, was answering questions at his confirmation hearing Wednesday, Kerry was already in the air for the 22-hour journey from Washington to Southeast Asia. It is the final trip overseas for the most traveled secretary of state in U.S. history. With his latest flight, he has now logged more than 1.4 million miles.
After two days in Vietnam, Kerry goes to Paris to confer with other foreign ministers on Middle East peace and to London for dinner with Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson. He will end the trip at an economic forum in Davos, Switzerland, then return to Washington with barely a day and a half left to savor what he has characterized as the job of a lifetime.

I suspect the leadership in Vietnam now, especially the mid to upper level ones in their late 30’s and early 40’s could care less about Kerry. Especially with only 8 days left in office!

More accurately this was Kerry's final official visit to his Communist partners.
Flying 1.4 million miles on an airplane. That is some achievement. An even bigger claim to fame is in 4 years he hasn’t done one thing to improve the position of the United States on the world stage.
That’s his legacy. Failed presidential candidate, failed soldier, failed SecState and one of the worst senators to ever grace the hallowed halls of the US senate. I could never imagine someone worst than Barbara Boxer. But there he is.

The former Air Force NCO said Kerry’s testimony before Congress back in 1971 was “full of lies and slander” against the vast majority of Americans who served in Vietnam with honor and integrity.
“For him to try and make out we were killing babies, raping women, cutting off ears and – in his words – rampaging every day through the Vietnamese countryside like the hordes of Genghis Khan – was and is a smear and slander of my brother Vietnam veterans.
“This self-proclaimed war hero doesn’t talk much about his days running around with Jane Fonda, giving aid and comfort to our enemies. I wonder why?”
Retired Capt. Danny Howell of Florida, a Republican and Marine staff sergeant during his hitch in Vietnam, praises the Swiftboat Vets for their exposure of Kerry’s dubious “combat” record.
“Only 120 days in-country and he puts himself in for a Purple Heart for scratches we wouldn’t bother to report to the corpsman. This guy was punching his ticket and used a loophole [three Purple Heart wounds and you got to leave Vietnam before your required 12 month tour of duty was up] in the regulations to get out early. What a disgrace!
“I saw Marines with serious wounds - arms shattered, their guts hanging out, an eye gone, sucking chest wounds – that is what the Purple Heart is meant for, not for a grain of rice hitting you in your butt!”
He'll be going at those skinny little Vietnamese massage boys like Moochie Obama on 3 pounds of Kobe steak.
Two weeks after the trip, will he know it was two trips?
Will he be exploring the Cambodian Border from the Viet Nam side?
In case you didn’t know, this isn’t his first time in Viet Nam.
Is he planning to pray and give his respects at the Ho Chi Minh gravesite/memorial?
