During his confirmation hearing Thursday, Ben Carson repeatedly refused to guarantee that money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development would not go to benefit President-elect Donald Trump or his family.
Among the billions of dollars that you will be handing out in grants and loans, can you just assure us that not one dollar will go to benefit either the president-elect or his family? Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) asked.
I can assure you that the things that I do are driven by a sense of morals and values, Carson responded. And therefore I will absolutely not play favorites for anyone.
Carson is Trumps nominee to run HUD, an anti-poverty agency charged with federal affordable housing efforts.
When Warren pressed him again, Carson again insisted on his own personal neutrality, instead of agreeing to avoid sending money to the president and his family. It will not be my intention to do anything to benefit any American, particularly, its for all Americans, everything that we do, Carson said.
If there happens to be an extraordinarily good program that works for millions of people and it turns out that someone that youre targeting is going to make $10 from it, Carson added, he wouldnt make a big fuss over the $10.
The problem is that you cant assure us that HUD money ― not of $10 varieties but of multimillion-dollar varieties ― will not end up in the president-elects pockets, Warren responded. And the reason you cant assure us of that is because the president-elect is hiding his familys business interests from you, from me, from the rest of America. And this just highlights the absurdity and the danger of the president-elects refusal to put his assets in a true blind trust.

Shouldn’t she be more concerned with ValJar getting more gov’t money for lousy housing in Chiraq?
Close HUD.
Put an end to the billions of dollars in handouts.
Problem solved.
This is a grandstand play by Warren, going for a sound bite that plays into the white liberal media’s depiction of Trump.
I would have been nice if Dr Carson just assured her, though.
so the woman who accepted $450,000 for teaching a single class at harvard is worried about accountability of money??
Lie-awatha (and Cory Booker yesterday) seem to only want to accept nominees cut from their cloth — no nominee who Trump would want (and therefore who we would want) will be acceptable.
This title is an outright lie.
She is utterly pathetic.
Go hunt some buffalo, Lizzy...
Someone tell idiot Senator Warren that President Trump is donating millions of dollars from his assets to the US government! That is in addition to any taxes he is paying. President Trump said that any overseas profits from his assets still in his name, will be donated to the USA. And of course he isn’t going to take a dime from HUD for his family, unlike Obama’s sons who steal from the rest of us taxpayers.
Senator, I find it ironic that YOU of all people wants assurances against misuse of Federal dollars for personal gain, given your fraudulent claim of Native American heritage, to gain access to University Education and Employment.
Maybe DJT will tweet something to the effect of "Its good to be King" - hehehe
A fake minority lectures a real minority.
The fake indian is starting early to establish herself as the “new” Hillary Clinton for 2020 (being tough and all). She may, in fact, be Hillary II because she’ll no doubt lose also!
Perhaps we should ask all the sinators this question.
Funny how these Democrats were concerned in the LEAST about millions of dollars of HUD money going to Valerie Jarrett, or being recycled into Democrat Party election coffers.
Cr. Carson should’ve said, “I can’t promise that $10 will not end up in YOUR pocket...”
My response would have been something along the lines of “That’s your job to legislate if that’s what you want to do and it passes Constitutional muster.”
Another insulting Senator
Elizabeth Warren faked being an Indian for financial advantage - and in the process robbed a real Native American of an opportunity.
Maybe her rudeness is a reaction to her own guilt. Guilt she hides from...
