Linda Bean on calls for L.L. Bean boycott: It's bullying L.L. Bean Board Member and Co-Owner Linda Bean on calls for a boycott of the company because of her support for President-elect Donald Trump and the state of the U.S. economy.

Linda Bean, the granddaughter and co-owner of L.L. Bean, on Thursday said U.S. businesses are under attack and being bullied by anti-Trump groups.

A group, Grabyourwallet.org, called for a boycott of L.L. Bean after Linda Bean, one of 50 family members that own the outdoor apparel maker, contributed $60,000 to a political action committee supporting President-elect Donald Trump. The Federal Election Commission said the donation exceeded the PAC’s individual donor limit of $5,000.

“It’s bullying,” Bean told the FOX Business Network’s Maria Bartiromo. “They want to control how we spend our money, what we buy, where we buy it. That’s wrong, it’s un-American.”

Shortly after her appearance on Fox Business, Trump tweeted a thank you to Linda Bean and urged customers to buy L.L. Bean.

Grabyourwallet.org is calling for boycotts on 38 stores – including Walmart, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s – that carry Trump products, are supportive of Trump, are owned by Trump or are “normalizing Trump.”

“I gave the donation personally to a pact to support Trump,” she said. “We should have that privilege. We live in America. It’s a free country.”

I strongly disagree.

This is a free enterprise nation.

Economic freedom is a basic component of our overall freedom.

The governmental bureaucracies have almost entirely been turned into weapons for communists.

The one power I still have is where I spend my money - and the freedom of speech to announce that.

I am absolutely, emphatically in favor of boycotts.

If you do not want to do so, that is your choice. I am not telling you to do so. But don’t tell me that I am acting like a leftist for doing so.

I was going to buy a pair last week in anticipation of our last snow storm but decided against it. I will be buying a pair this weekend no matter what. This boycott will probably have the same effect that the Chick Fil A boycott had.

With great sadness I have watched our side jump on to the boycott bandwagon this election.
Organized boycotts are a purview of the left. Divided we will all fall...

My boycott of FNC was very personal and had nothing to do with "jumping on the bandwagon." I couldn't stand to listen to the anti-Trump rubbish. With Kelly gone now I am considering trying them again but cannot get past the thought of Shep Smith, Juan Williams, Horrendo Revolver and a few others still there.

Melania is going to look good in plaid.

She'd look good in mashed potatoes or a paper bag.

I know what you mean. I didn’t buy a Kellogg’s product I wanted at the store the other day because of the Breitbart nonsense. But then this LL Bean nonsense made me realize I don’t want to become like THEM!!!! Perhaps I should just buy the Kelloggs if I want. I doubt if Kelloggs cares that much one way or the other.

With me, it’s not so much a boycott per se. I just refuse to spend money with entities that so obviously hate me and everything about me. It’s only self preservation. If a given business remains neutral, I’m not particularly concerned with the beliefs of their board or employees, so long as I’m not accosted. Once they go political as a company, however, it does matter and if they’re in opposition to me I will not support them. It’s not a boycott, it’s a life decision.

No, boycotting is not un-American.

Pro-Trump people boycott liberal businesses all the time.

Boycotting is the purest form of free speech.

I’m sorry this is happening to her company but let’s not be hypocritical. Boycotting can’t be un-American only when they do it.

Boycotts are a form of free speech and protest.
They are the purest form of free speech actually.

I support the act of boycotting no matter the issue (and even if I disagree with the side doing the boycotting) because 1A is that important. If we don’t have free speech we have nothing.

There’s boycotting (Starbucks, NFL), and buycotting (Chick Fil A, LL Bean). I practice both.

Note to LL Bean: Ladies tall, please!

To clarify my earlier post:

I oppose persecuting an individual citizen like Linda Bean or Brendan Eich for their personal politics and donations.

I support boycotts of corporations who make it their mission to actively enforce communist Federal policies upon their customers.

I boycott Target because Target made it official and public to support an anti-First Amendment policy promoted by the Marxist in the White House. They went public, so I did too.

If we on the right always bring a sling-shot to a machine-gun fight, then we will indeed all fall.

Just ordered a flannel shirt from LL Bean. Great quality and a great American company. Land End on the other hand is crap quality and supported Hillary. The wife uses the Lands End catalog to line the cat box.

“Linda Bean Calls Anti-Trump Boycotts ‘Un-American,’ Form Of Bullying (LL Bean)”

Sounds good, I wish some of these people would have spoken up before the election. It would have meant so much more
