"Deeply Concerned" Schumer To Vote Against Sessions, Fears For "Immigrant, Gay, Disabled
Zero Hedge ^ | 01/12/2017

In a tweet-tempest this morning, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) has confirmed he opposes Sen. Jeff Sessions, President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to serve as attorney general.

The Attorney General has a sacred obligation to enforce our laws & uphold the constitution.

— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) January 12, 2017

The AG must wake up each day ensuring rights of all Americans immigrant, minority, young, old, gay, straight, disabled & not are protected.

— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) January 12, 2017

The AG ensures that POTUS & the Admin's policies adhere to American values& ideals & is a check to ensure the President is not above the law

— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) January 12, 2017

I am not confident in Sen Sessions' ability to defend the rights of all Americans, or to serve as indep. check on the next administration.

— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) January 12, 2017

As The Hill reports, Sessions has faced backlash over his record on civil rights since his nomination and throughout his Senate confirmation hearings this week.

The Senate in 1986 opposed appointing Sessions to a federal judgeship in part because of disparaging remarks he allegedly made about the NAACP and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). He strongly denied the accusations back then and again this week.

Critics also point to his prosecution of black voting rights activists for voter fraud and other civil rights concerns.

Schumer's dissent is not entirely surprising and will likely not be the last.

What a hypocrite. He’s had no problem all these years creating and passing laws alongside Senator Sessions, but now he has a problem with Senator Sessions enforcing those same laws. He reminds me of one of those women who claim they were sexually abused years ago, but kept silent about it until they found they could get monetary rewards for disclosing it.

Durbin will vote No, as will Blumenthal, Feinstein, and the usual suspects.

Neither McCain nor Graham are members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, but Rubio is. If he votes no, then Tillerson will need to pick up one Rat vote to pass. The Democrat members are:

I don't see any of the above voting for Tillerson (they are most if not all, diehard partisans). So Little Marco gets his revenge on President-elect Trump, but his treason will be long remembered when he runs again for national office in the future.

If the nomination does make it to the Senate floor, I have hope that a couple of Democratic senators, especially from so-called red states, will vote in the affirmative.

Memo to Schumer et. al.:
Don’t ever expect a Democratic nominee to any post to be treated any different than you have treated Sen. Sessions. Truly despicable.

Tillerson won’t get out of committee, because Rubio will vote with the Dems to turn him down.

If Rubio ruins this for Trump he’ll pay a HUGE price..I hope hes aware of it.....Trump may have to give him a “friendly” call....

Call won’t help...Marco is on a mission. He will challenge Trump in 2020 if Trump runs for re-election. He thinks he is a survivor from the last campaign as proven by waltzing back in as a senator.

Sadly, my senators are Skeletor and Muffy (Blumenthal and Murphy)

Blumie’s already made his idiotic statement that he can’t vote for an AG who would uphold the law - seriously.

What price will he pay? Most conservatives will keep voting for Rubio no matter what he does.

We have people on FR defending voting for Rubio again after the Gang of Eight open borders/amnesty push, which Rubio was the leader of.
