Yes, but not the whole state. Only the blue areas of California should be allowed to go, minus any federal land (like national parks) within those areas.

I am for CA seceding because the political benefit to the other 49 state would be enormous.

ABSOLUTELY Let them go and maybe the freaks that moved to Colorado and Nevada will go back. The rest of the country would be much better off even though we would still have to contend with Chicago and NYC

If Clinton had won and Texas was talking about seceding would Schlicter be calling them silly? Just curious.

First off, CA’s vaunted “sixth strongest economy” bragging point would dissipate, once the 31 U.S. military bases, all military assets, the entire government payroll and job-creating aspects of a military presence (20% of the jobs in San Diego are spawned by the bases and derivative economies) all disappear, along with $66 billion in federal contracts and $43 billion in annual grants.

Second, with CA’s budget reeling from $400 billion debt, I’m curious as to how the westies imagine they’ll stand up a defense structure, national transportation system without federal monies and a substitute for federal assistance when that state sustains its next big earthquake.

Third, one secession begets another, as the nine counties that comprise the State of Jefferson will use that opportunity to sever from California and will likely remain with the union, creating a brand-spanking-new conservative red state.

Fourth, the remaining rump state of California, now severed from the bottom border of Butte County extended, will in short order become usurped by Mexico.

But hey... who are we to get in the way of their fantasy, right?

AMF, MEXIFORNIA!

I quit drinking, so I don’t need your damned wine!

I can grow my own garlic!

I can live without artichokes and avacados!

I can certainly live without your so-called “entertainment” industry!

I prefer lobster to dungenes crab!

AMF MEXIFORNIA!

Yep.... something along those lines is what I had in mind.

However the map might include Portlandia and Seattle along with NeoEuropa in the North East.

What the westies haven't figured out is the wine industry is growing by leaps and bounds in other states, and garlic, artichokes and avocadoes can be grown in other warm, dry locations.

If California secedes, the “red” counties, where much of the oppressed dwindling middle class survivors reside, may choose to secede from California (state of Jefferson), maybe even taking a few southern Oregon “red” counties with it. Could be fun to watch. Senate loses two DemWit senators and new state Jefferson adds two GOP senators... so we don’t even have to change the 50 stars on the flag...could work!

While California has the resources to be a thriving country, the chances of Sacramento actually using those resources properly to build the economy are nil.

In short they will become......Mexico
