how does this special commission cost? They may ask for more time to study this.

Perhaps moving the clocks back two or three hours would even be better.
To: SMGFan
I would support this if the whole Eastern Time zone did it, but MA should not have its own separate time zone.
To: SMGFan
Here in Arizona we don’t do the twice-a-year clock-changing nonsense and we get along just fine.

Sounds good to me.
Makes sense, MA is a little bit off anyway.

I believe Daylight Saving Time is an invention by sadistic morning people.
I want the right to live according whatever timezone I choose myself.

In the fall, the time change gets them an extra hour of sleep. In the spring, the time change loses them an hour of sleep. Perhaps we suggest to them to just do the fall time change so they don’t have to deal with losing sleep in the spring? Knowing the people up there, they just may go for it.

Instead of pretending that everything is an hour off, how about changing the times that businesses open and people go to work, etc. and do away with DST altogether like Arizona and Saskatchewan? Is it all dictated by the TV schedule?

Good on em. Maybe it will start a trend. The DST crap was done state by state. That is how it has to be undone. Go MA!

I’d rather have more daylight after work. When you’re on the Eastern edge (eg WI) of a time zone, going off daylight savings is a bummer.

How about we stop mucking with the clocks? The same effect is accomplished by changing school start times and encouraging businesses to do likewise.

The farther you are from the equator the more DST makes sense.Massachusetts,a state which is justifiably known for stupid ideas, has come up with another one.

Including “fact finding” trips to spend a lot of time where these is a lot of daylight and no DS.

DST is a summer time shift from standard time for the given timezone offset. Not sure how DST is an advantage.

Uniform time zones are essential for commerce.I've read that there was a time in the US when there were almost as many time zones as there were cities and towns.
To: SMGFan
I’m for it—I think more states would follow suit and more schools would start later—which they should do anyway.
To: SMGFan
...Massachusetts should change the laws of man and observe daylight saving time year-round... The entire US did this during the arab oil embargo back in the 70s. And it took about a month for people to realize that this put kids going to school on the streets well before sunrise, and we changed back due to the potential for traffic accidents.
Surely there is at least someone in the MA government who is old enough to remember this. Well, maybe not.
But I can promise that the problem has not changed, and that it is still a dumb idea.
